I am a fairly new drummer (I've been playing for nearly a year), learning on a Alesis Nitro Mesh kit.
I wasn't really satisfied with the stock bass pedal so I switched it to Roland KT-9 - and I'm happy with the choice (and so are my neighbours) since it's much more silent. Going further, I wanted to do the same with the hi-hat controller, since I find it a little clunky and I don't like the clicking noise it does, so I ordered another Roland pedal: FD-9. Unfrotunately, this time it didn't work so smooth. I tried to connect it via a jack adapter, but it doesn't really work (sometimes there is some sound but it's pretty random), and after some searching on the Internet, I guess it's not really compatibile with the nitro module.
1. Has anyone succesfully made the Roland FD-9 work with Alesis Nitro and has any tips for this? Any module calibration or any hardware inbetween the controller and module?
2. Are there any other options to achieve more silent / comfortable hi-hat controller that has similar functions to the stock one? I've heard about "Goedrum GHC-AN" but I'm concerned about its mixed opinions. Also my priority is making it quiterer than the stock pedal, I'm not sure if that's the way to go.
