Hi all.
I have a Crimson II SE which I connect to my Windows 10 Laptop to play Addictive Drums 2.
Audio is via a Steinberg UR22 mkII interface into the laptop and the connection between the Alesis module and the UR22 interface is via a 5-pin midi cable.
To get the latency down as low as possible without dropouts, I am currently setting the UR22 down to 384 samples, which seems quite low but, even at 512 samples, there is a slight noticeable latency.
So my questions are:
1) Is there an advantage to connecting the Alesis USB out and into the Laptop's USB in, rather than Alesis 5-pin midi out to UR22 interface midi in?
2) In other words, which is faster for midi: USB or 5-pin midi?
3) Could it be that I need a faster interface?
4) I'm not sure that the laptop processor is an issue (Intel i5) as the same happens when I connect to a Windows 10 desktop (Intel i7) but would an Apple Mac Book be a better option?
