Alesis Command Bass Drum Question

New to the world of edrums. The Alesis Command pad for the bass drum will only trigger in the lower center of the mesh. Is this normal?

That is where the trigger/piezo is placed in the newer kick drum/pad.
The reason it is offset is because the newer kick drum/pads (open mesh) would fail quickly with the beaters striking the piezo directly causing the piezo or wires to break.The earlier kick drums/pads had a steel reflection plate behind foam and the piezo could be moved just slightly off center.
Your going to have to work with the settings..curve,.sensitivity,retrigger cancel etc especially if you are using double pedals and will have to adjust for faster triggering...or, as some have done..relocate the piezo/trigger closer to the center.
