This is a really good looking kit and the module seems to be quite capable. To be honest, the module looks/feels/comparable (based on the videos I've seen) to the (discontinued) Alesis Strike module. I don't see Alesis rebranding this Medeli kit anytime soon as it appears to hit a little too close to home for them. Maybe a DM10 MKIII???, but then Alesis would be competing with themselves so I doubt that would happen. Maybe KAT or Ddrum could rebrand this kit. It would push one of those two brands to a much higher tier as far as edrums go. Heck, Ddrum could just rebrand the module and put their own drums with it (do they still make hybrid drums?).

ddrum still offers the Hybrids...and the Flex Kits...also came out with the ddrum 5 Module  (2Box Knockoff).
I inquired (multiple times) about the Firmware change to the DDTi (Trigger IO Knockoff)...was ignored

I didn't post about the MZ923 when it first came out...was half-expecting an Alesis Re-Brand since it's so close..Strata Wrap..Spoke Design..Rack....Instead they came out with the Club (Strata Core/Crimson II)

I inquired about a US Dealer etc for the MZ928...then later the MZ923  in a Round-a-bout way as I had questions with other modules and I know some of the R&D...they always answer all my questions.....just never a response on the MZ928/923 KIts..

Those (2) Kits and the New MZ53 Series Mention the Real Hat/Real Hihat Sensor..as does the Crimson III User Guide.

I have been waiting for the MIDI 2.0 Implementation..Steve Fisher is on the Board....and all of the new MIDI-CI Drum Profiles
The 1st Profile MIDI -CI (Default Drum Note Profile)..Drum machine etc) has been out since June/July...
The 2nd (Drum Performance Profile)...which is the New manufacturing standard etc for E-Kits..still hasn't been voted on...it included a New Hi Hat Standard.....also included positional sensing..
..so I wonder..

Is Steve Fisher still with MEDELI and does the newer MEDELI MZ923 have MIDI 2.0 in it?

Steve Fisher is still with Medeli (Formerly with Yamaha..Roland)

He did a Video a couple months back for the MZ729..on the Medeli Facebook page

The MZ928/923 (or any of the New MZ series) do not mention MIDI 2.0 (I am sure it would be) and the Manual doesn't show all the additional communication settings etc...just .."Enhanced by PURE DRUM 2.0 technology".
The MIDI-CI Drum Profiles haven't been finalized until the past year...the Drum Performance Profile still a No Show and is Past Due.
2 of the members worked on the Zildjian Alchem-E...so I figure if any kit in the US has it 1st it will be the ALCHEM-E.
Once the Profile is Voted in then the software developers (DAW,Vst etc) will also have to implement the Profile so back and forth communication works.

MIDI Capability Inquiry (MIDI-CI) is a set of bidirectional mechanisms which allow devices to negotiate with each other for autoconfiguration.
MIDI-CI also allows the expansion of MIDI with new features while protecting backward compatibility with MIDI Devices that do not understand these newly defined features
.

The MZ928/923 Modules do have Sub Instruments and Layering along with Positional Sensing on the Snare..and the "Real Hi Hat".
The Positional Sensing can be turned ON/OFF

Medeli just released the TP110

Good to know. I hadn't seen a video with him, so I wasn't sure. I think he is definitely making a big difference at MEDELI.

So do you think that maybe the Positional Sensing in the MZ928/923 is conforming to the MIDI 2.0 standard?
On a side note: I do like the MZ928 kit/module. It would be a shame if there is no USA rebrand of this kit. It seems like a very capable module.

I've seen devices like this before, but this one just looks better. I noticed in the video it's shown with a snare, kick, and Hi-Hat (at a gig). I didn't see a hi-hat input when looking at the images (unless I missed it). I just saw the one trigger input (which I assume is dual zone)?

I presume there will be communication settings for the MIDI 2.0 Profiles and the Hi Hat settings are entirely different according to the MIDI-CI Drum Profile Video posted...The Video explains all the New features to expect..there aren't any in these modules.

The New Drum Default Note Profile has the recommended PAN settings each kit piece.
I have been implementing that while creating Kits for the DrumPi and software BFD etc etc...so I get used to it.

MIDI-CI Drum Note Default Profile

The TP110 Manual just shows using a splitter...which I don't know how you could use a Kick along with complete Hi Hat setup without a pedal..In the Video since he just connects to the controller, so I presume just using Chick.
There isn't much in the way of Sounds...for the Hi Hat...I do see Velocity switching  HHC/HHO..Open/Closed Instruments/Voices..I wonder if those can be assigned to the controller...I have unplugged the Hi Hat in Modules and the controller still chicks/splashes.

A MZ928 Kit was listed on Reverb a month ago..still listed...from the Netherland tho...shipping seems cheap.
I have been on the lookout for different modules..sometimes they popup cheap..or kits get parted out by Dealers/retailers..
