So..I recently got into drumming, got an Alesis Surge kit, very nice..great sounds , easy to navigate..but I wanted a proper hi hat so have ordered a Goedrum from Taiwan..after reading that it doesn't work well with the surge module (nitro) i bought a DM10 module from ebay..it ..im still waiting on the GoEdrum hi hat controller, but I'm finding the DM10 hard to work with..also the voices don't seem great..I know its an advanced module and I know its much older than the surge..but I'm wondering if it was worth buying?? Im just a little disappointed that its not out of the box usable..I reset it because it was not quite right due to previous owners settings..what do you guys think ? Worth keeping ? It wasn't cheap

Honestly, I gave up after trying a few different electronic hihat solutions, and just got a Zildjian L-80 set of hats, and mic'd them into my mixer.
Feels more "real", and with a just a little tweaking, sounds great.

I bought my DM10 set well over 10 years ago and loved it except the voicings.. spent a lot of time trying out the 100 kits, modifying some, creating my own.. layering two voices to see if I could get satisfying snares, hi-hats.. was rarely happy so I bought Addictive Drums and have been using that solely for over a decade. The module is just a pass thru now pretty much and still works like the first day I got it, but all my tweaking and satisfaction comes from the VST and my hi-hats and snares respond much better and sound amazing.
