Strike Multipad Question - Foot Pedals
« on: August 31, 2023, 03:12:31 PM »
hey all  -

recently purchased the Strike Multipad for my kit. I am planning on using it for click and backing tracks for our band. My current configuration is that I have pads 6 and 7 grouped together.  Pad 7 is the click track and is routed to the aux out. Pad 8 is the backing track and routed to the main out.
I then have a different user kit for each of our songs.
Pad 9 has an action assigned to it for "next kit".
How I am using it is I hit pad 7 to start the track.  When the song is over, I hit pad 9 to progress to the next kit/next song. This works great, however, I am scared that I will accidentally hit the wrong pad by mistake during a song.

My question - I have an old Roland FD-7 Pedal that I formally used on my Roland Vdrum kit. My ideal scenario would be to configure the pedal to be my Next Kit action.  That way, when the song is over, I can step on the pedal to go to the next track. I have tried all sorts of combinations with pedal from the Strike Pad menus. I have tried it as a Hi Hat and plugged into the HH input, I have plugged it into foot control input 1 and changed it from Switch to Variable, and nothing seems to take.  The only time it "works" is if I unplug the 1/4" cable, plug it in - the first time will work. Then it no longer operates.

Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Forum !

The Realhat pedal (Continuous/variable) works fine..in either mode.. switch or variable..polarity reversed etc.
I don't have any Roland Pedals..

Typically you setup in Utility as variable or switch (switch mode you can change polarity)..then press Pad Button > Control..and set to whatever you want.
Next Kit, Previous Kit, Click On/Off, Tap Tempo, Panic, Looper Rec, Looper Play/Stop, Kit 1, 2, or 3 FX off/on, and Master FX off/on

Roland pedals are known to have reverse Polarity so you can check that ..otherwise the only suggestion I have is to make sure the Rubber actuator isn't making contact..raise the adjustment for the travel of metal tab so it isn't making any contact on the rubber actuator until you actually press down.
I have known some that adjusted their HH pedals so there is very little or no travel so it may already be making contact.

thanks for your reply! i'll keep trying.  I'm thinking it might not work, based off of my troubleshooting.
