A few Samplepad Pro questions
« on: August 25, 2023, 10:29:41 AM »
Hi, and thanks for letting me join this community!

I've a few question regarding Samplepad Pro I hope you can help me with since Google could not.

1) If able, how do I erase the internal sounds and kits?
2) Is there an easy way to re-arrange my own kits (I want them in a specific order on my SD-card)? I have the Sampepad Kit Editor (which is great by the way) but the editor don't seem to have that specific function.
3) Do Samplepad Pro support momentary footswitch? I need/want a dual footswitch with non-latching buttons but have a hard time finding one.
4) I want one footswitch set on "Stop all" and the other one on "Next kit". If I cant find a switch of my liking (with non-latching buttons), do you think I can use a sustain pedal? The reason for all of this is that I'm afraid of forgetting to dubbel click when performing...

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum !

The Samplepad Pro has been out almost 10 years ...one would think there would be an abundant amount of info for switch use..
I didn't see too much..it seems no one shared much in the way of setups.
One of the biggest complaints for this model was that even tho the internal Kits switched pretty fast..User Kits with User Samples may take a lot more time depending on how many samples and sample sizes..

1) If able, how do I erase the internal sounds and kits?

Not possible..Internal Sounds are permanent/write protected.and can only be changed with Firmware update etc..and so they don't get accidentally erased.
You are not loading anything into Samplepad , it has No Storage.
No SD Card in place you'll have access to nothing..No User Kits,User Samples etc.

Use a numbering Pre-fix..01-..02-..03-..10-..11-..12 etc
Then you can reorganize the kits in the SD Card anytime..pop it into a Reader and Edit the numbers.

When these first came out a number of Retailers offered a package that included the Korg PS3..which is a single momentary switch..

With Dual switches you should be able to assign/perform 3 Functions..FOOTSWITCH1...FOOTSWITCH2...FOOTSWITCH1&2-SIMULTANEOUSLY

User Guide pg 4
Footswitch Input: Connect a standard 1/4" TS single-button or 1/4" TRS dual-button footswitch here to control functions assigned in the Footswitch options menu.

User Guide pg 9
FootswitchThe footswitch input of SamplePad Pro supports both standard 1/4" TS single-button and 1/4" TRS dual-button footswitches.

For 1/4" TS single-button footswitches, you can only assign one function to the single button by changing the setting for FOOTSWITCH1.

For 1/4" TRS dual-button footswitches, you can assign functions to both buttons by changing the settings for FOOTSWITCH1 and FOOTSWITCH2.

You can also assign a function to happen when you press both buttons of the footswitch at the same time by changing the setting for SIMULTANEOUS.

The available footswitch functions are:
 Click: Starts/stops the metronome
Stop All: Mutes all currently playing samples
Next Kit: Selects the next kit
Prev Kit: Selects the previous kit
Tempo: Press the footswitch several times to set the tempo of the metronome

There are many options for Footswitches...depends on your budget..

Here are some examples:

DUAL MOMENTARY  HOTONE..
Cheap but very small..

BOSS
Full Size Pedal..more expensive..more Features
Pedals can be set as Momentary or Latching..Polarity switch..LED Indicator.

Boss FS-6 Dual Foot Switch (Uses Battery)

Hard to hit both Buttons simultaneously..

Boss FS-6 Manual

OR

BOSS FS-7 (*User Power Supply)

Easier to hit both switches simultaneously

*Use without connecting an AC adaptor
You can use the FS-7 with momentary operation even if no AC adaptor is connected.
It will operate with the following settings regardless of how each switch is actually set.

[MODE] switch FS-5U (MOMENTARY)
[POLARITY] switch Set to the I position

Boss FS-7 Manual

Thank you so much! This was really helpful and saved me a lot of time, and some grey hair. I've been spending the evening trying to delete the internal sound but I can obviously stop trying now.
Great tips regarding switches, cheers for that!
