Hi,
Could you use an electronic "stomp box" as a trigger (cymbal) with an Alesis module ?
There's the ability to split a dual-zone pad signal to 2 different devices using a 1/4 inch signal splitter, so like re-assign the rim of a tom to something else...some people use extra cymbals, how about a stomp box that uses a 1/4 jack ?

The Wazinator line of "Stomp" Boxes use a chamber of compressed air..speaker diaphragm (High Impedance)..to amp....one sound..no velocity range.
Sound is based on "Timbre"
"The pickup?s designed to plug into an instrument amp, though with suitable amplification it could also be hooked up to a console. As you tap your foot on the wood, the air gap inside the pickup system is compressed and the result is a deep, woody thump. There?s also built-in mechanical protection (effectively an air valve) to limit the possibility of particularly hefty stomps causing damage further down the signal chain."

Wazinator Baby Grand is a powerful stompbox with an identical pickup system to the
Wazinator Drop Kick"
Drum Modules interpret a Voltage waveform....produced by Piezo Transducer..
There are some Digital Stomp boxes (Meinl,Roland and others) that use a Piezo but for internal samples only..then the audio is outputted.
If you are going to Split a Tom Input..it will have to be a Piezo trigger and for a Cymbal only the Bow will Trigger..Single Zone..Drum inputs Do Not support Choke..you cannot strike 2 Triggers on one input simultaneously..they will cancel out. There are some splitter cables that have a resistor to delay it..some modules like Roland require a resistor to even work properly.
Prices are pretty high for what they are..(the Piezo Type) you are basically kicking a mic..in a chamber (like when you tap one to see if on).
I see a lot of Live performers recommend the the compressed air/speaker type ..with an amp.
For drum trigger/module use you could build a small Piezo box for under $10-$20 and up..depends on the Quality you want.
..enclosure..27mm Piezo..1/4" (6.235mm TS jack)..100k Potentiometer (to adjust sensitivity)
I see some other Stomp Boxes offered on the market that are
Piezo Type..in the $70-$100 range and up..mainly depends on how nice the enclosure , but Piezos are Dirt cheap..
