Pearl R.e.d. with new kits - DM10 MkII?
« on: January 08, 2019, 11:53:41 AM »
Hi all, I recently purchased a DM10 MkII Studio. Very nice kit. I am wondering if I may get better sounds/flexibility by using a Pearl R.e.d.box. I see they are available quite inexpensively on ebay now and if it would integrate nicely with this set, it seems to be a good choice. I know they are the same hardware as the old DM10 but am wondering if anyone is using this module or what other modules people are using with their newer mid range Alesis kits.

This is the same as Crimson II. I didn't like the toms on my DM10 MKii Pro. But after really digging into the module you can make enough edits to get some killer sounds. Not sure if the Studio can go that deep on edits. Another alternative is to import the toms and kick. Use the included cymbal sounds and make a custom kit. This is what I did and it's my favorite go to for 80's rock.
The main settings I used to get better sound on the stock sounds are tuning and muffling. They are just tuned too high and ring too long.
