Cool ipad app from Winter NAMM!
« on: January 14, 2011, 12:25:22 AM »
Just saw this video for a cool new product.  It allows you to mute out tracks and practice/play along with songs using the original artists.  It's for drums, guitar, bass, keys and vocals.  You can repeat sections and it even has the music charts.  Looks like they still need to add a lot more songs, but it has potential.

Here's the youtube video:

Holy Crap!  that is awesome!   I want one.  but I don't own an iPad.  Hopefully, they'll come out with PC version.

If you have an ipad(I don't...yet) I think this can be a great learning tool.  A PC/Mac version would be pretty cool.

FYI Jammit has a PC Beta version available now.  I just stumbled on this through Line 6 on Twitter.  I downloaded the mac version and it's pretty awesome. The interface is nice enough but I haven't found a good way to loop a full section--dragging the loop region is pretty painful--but it might be an RTFM situation :)

I have been using GuitarPro for quite awhile and it keeps getting better but the use of actual tracks in Jammit is a really nice.  With GuitarPro you can get free downloads of just about any song usually with all instrument parts but, if Jammit has a version, I think it's worth the $ to get it.  Both have computer and portable versions so you can use either wherever you are.
