Double bass drum setup - Left leg playing the same as the right issues.

How many people out there, using a double bass drum setup, find it difficult to raise the left leg like you do the right when playing, while maintaining the same precision ? My left side use is by pushing the foot forward instead of the usual leg left up and down motion. It can lead to tired left foot muscles in the middle of a session (i.e. "sledge foot"). If I try to use the left leg like I do the right it sets me off balance and the playing is less precise. The left leg is for my double strikes where the right is for the singles...like "thump-thump.....thump". I'm betting alot of players have the same issue.
