Best #4 Tom for Crimson 2 se

(1/2) > >>

Maypo:
Looking to add a 4th tom to my crimson 2 se kit. I see that there are several used dual zone alesis pads avaiable on eBay. Is there compatibility between models like the crimson 2 and command? Any suggestions to the size and the best pad to buy? There's not much room on the rack.

Thanks!

The Medeli DD650 Re-Brands (9 Variations) all use the same module...some of the models have had different trigger designs as Alesis was experimenting but they were still dual zone....probably the one to not purchase Toms from would be from the Forge Kit (Toms are also not Mesh).
The Forge was Marketed as single zone toms..so they may have been..unknown as it was discontinued early on and not many posts about that kit.
Alesis used to advertise single zone mesh kits kits and the toms were in fact single zone so you had to be careful purchasing toms from another kit...since then they may all be dual zone (except Kick) and the difference would be a Firmware limitation as all of the harness are the same and dual zone for the toms.

I created a comparison chart for all of the Medeli Re-brands in this Topic..download and use that for reference

Thanks once again for a detailed response! Couple of follow-up questions/observations.

Based on the chart it looks like the dual zone Tom pads from the Command Mesh kits and Crimson kits will all work on the Crimson 2 SE. Is that correct?

From a functionality standpoint on Tom 4 does it matter if I get an 8" or 10"? Playing around with my existing Tom pads it does not seem so.

It is really cool that once I plug a Tom into the Tom 4 trigger input I am good to go with a voice that works with the other 3 toms!

Thanks!

You'll have no problems as long as the Trigger/Pad is Piezo/Piezo...as always you may have to adjust trigger settings to dial in for a larger or smaller pad depending on which way you go.

I have setup a STRIKE Kit (8,10,12,14..14 snare) with an original Crimson Module (Medeli DD650)

Maypo:
The pitch difference between tom #3 (new 8 inch) and tom #4 (10 inch, used to be tom #3) is very slight, not as much as the difference betweeh 1, 2, and 3. Which trigger settings would help to lower pitch on tom #4?

Thanks!
