I call this an ugly hack as you'll see below.
At my last gig I was getting this issue where when I played the one of the crashes it was like I was instantly grabing the choke strip. This happened a few times.
I figured that as I've had these crashes for a few years, and have be thrashing them with a good run up, perhaps I have destroyed the fragile choke strip.
For those curious about what the inside of these look like...
The black rectangles are just weights. I took one off for a look .
Down at the electronics I identified the piezo and it's ribbon cable. Therefore the other ribbon cable must be for the choke. So I disabled it.
Choking cymbals is not a regular part of my playing anyway. I'll get around to fixing this one or making my own more robust crash cymbal some day soon.
