I have a modified Nitro Mesh kit that I switched to 10in dual zones, two Yamaha towers, and 14in cymbal with bell. Curious what module I should upgrade to? Nitro Pro, Crimson, or what? Thanks for feedback and keep finding the groove. mbsbud

For upgrading it depends a lot on what you are looking for as the Alesis Modules have different Features and Faults.
Currently the Alesis lineup is basically 5 Nitro Kits..and 3 Strata..
The Crimson III was the Intermediate , however now discontinued/removed from the website.
The Nitro Ultimate XL replaced it.

The Nitro Mesh (formerly DM7X) is a Medeli Re-Brand (Medeli DD512) and uses the Non Industry Stand for the Rack..1-1/8 and 1-3/8 clamps.
The Toms are Horizontal Mount...what are you using for 10" Toms?
The standard mount type and turning the Nitro clamps so the L-Rod faces up?

Sounds like you have a 14" Triple Zone Cymbal to use for a Ride I presume....
Single Cable..or Dual Cable?

The Crimson Module (Medeli DD650) is older (10 years) but supports everything..Dual Zone Toms..Dual Zone Cymbals and a Triple Zone Ride.The Hi Hat Pedal is Continuous "Variable"...the Module sends CC4.
The Nitro Pedal is a "Continuous Type" segment Pedal setup resistance..The Module Does Not send CC4.
There were different Versions (same Function) for this pedal..DMHAT V2
The Nitro Pedals ALL send a MIDI Note for 1/2 Open.

Alesis finally started to put in the User Guides.."HH Pedal Movement – Aftertouch"
The NEW HH Controller for using a HH Stand ... also has this listed.."HH Pedal Movement – Aftertouch"

Alesis has started making a mess of the Modules again..and once again there will be a lot of confusion..
They did this with all of the Medeli DD650 Rebrands..Command,Crimson,Crimson II,DM10 Studio,Forge which used the same DB25 Trigger harness..different Firmware.
 The Alesis Crimson III Module is a Re-Branded MEDELI MZ725/729 Drum Module which is the Upgraded Medeli DD635
The Strata Modules are different and the Nitro Modules are all different.

Users often ask questions and "I have a Nitro Module" (There were at least 5) or a Crimson Module (There were 3) or a DM10 Module (There were 3)...you have to be really specific on which one..or you'll get bad advice especially if trouble shooting or upgrading your kit.

Similar in appearance...but different in Features/Function...so I'll try to point them out for the 4 Newer Generation Nitro Modules.

The Newer/Recent Nitro Modules  are now powered with BFD Samples... the Cymbals however are all the 10" single Zone for the..Nitro Max and the Nitro Pro...The Nitro Ultimate has the New (Redesigned) 10" Dual Zone.
The Nitro Ultimate XL supports Dual Zone Cymbals along with a Triple Zone Ride and uses DMPad Cymbals , which were discontinued..now back/Redesigned..

The Nitro Max Module only has Bow articulations..SINGLE ZONE RIDE
The Module supports Single Zone Cymbals..and a Single Zone Hi Hat.
The Nitro Max uses a Pedal HH Controller

The Nitro Pro Module has Bow and Bell articulations for the Ride however the MIDI assignments is only for SINGLE ZONE RIDE
The Module supports Single Zone Cymbals..and a Single Zone Hi Hat.
The Nitro Pro uses a Pedal HH Controller

The Nitro Ultimate Module has Bell,Bow and Edge articulations for the Ride however the MIDI assignments show only for SINGLE ZONE  Cymbals and Ride
The MIDI listed for the Module supports Single Zone Cymbals..and a Single Zone Hi Hat.
The Nitro Ultimate Module is the same as the Nitro Ultimate XL without the MIDI SUPPORT for Dual Zone Cymbals/Triple Zone Ride....OR the additional MIDI just isn't listed in the User Guide as the Product page clearly states Dual Zone Cymbals which are the redesigned 10" with a Choke Strip.
The Nitro Ultimate uses a HH Controller on a HH Stand

The Nitro Ultimate XL Module has Bell,Bow and Edge articulations for the Ride,and has MIDI assignments..TRIPLE ZONE RIDE.
The Module supports Dual Zone Cymbals..and a Dual Zone Hi Hat.
The Nitro Ultimate XL uses a HH Controller on a HH Stand.

The older 10" Cymbals with the Choke Dots can also be used as Dual Zone...just a small area to hit between the 7 Dots.

The Nitro Modules are identical with the exception of Firmware and the Max is Black.

There are 3 RED/BLACK Modules... ALL are identical in appearance except for the Model Name...
The Unknown is the DB25 Trigger Harness..if it's the same used for All and the Firmware is the difference.

The Module to look for with Full Features and MIDI Support is the Nitro Ultimate XL.
The Nitro Ultimate XL Module is Not sold seperately and hard to find by itself.
The Nitro Ultimate Module shows the same Sounds...just No MIDI Support listed for Multiple Zones..

There are also other options..Strata PRIME ,Strata CORE, STRIKE etc..however you will need to purchase Cables and if  a Strata CORE..make sure the purchase  includes the DB25 Harness.

If you mainly use Vst or Software look into the eDRUMin...The latest is the eDRUMin 12.
The eDRUMin 10 was discontinued during the Chip shortage..

If you just want New Sounds without using a computer/Vst etc..look into the DrumPi.

Hey Chaser thanks for getting back with me and supplying lots of info. I just picked up a used Crimson 2 module, but I'm unable to get complete sound from high hat, only open sound. 14in ride is single cable and 10 in pads are basic dual zone. I researched online Crimson 2 info, but the steps listed didn't help. Should I upgrade high hat equipment? Thanks again for your hard work.
