Alesis DM10 replacement kick-drum
« on: March 31, 2023, 12:12:17 PM »
Hello Everyone,
I've just replaced the kick-drum for my Alesis DM10.  It seems to be playing well (though as it's a mesh head I'm using a plastic or wood beater, which seems to have more 'bounce' than the felt - but I guess I'll get used to that).  I was just wondering: should I tighten the head at all or just treat it as ready to play?
Any advice most welcome,
With best wishes,
Mike T

I'd say if it's having more bounce/rebound than your used to, loosen the head a tad. Why not right?

Yeah, the Alesis rep says that it can help to loosen it as much as you feel comfortable as long as the lugs don't rattle when you play. Works great for me. I went really loose - too loose, so then I tightened it back up in increments until it felt right.
