Within 6 mos my bass head had a hole? I do not play especially hard any ideas on how to fix this in the future??

(a) if you have a mesh head don't use a felt beater
(b) get a stick on protector

For mesh heads, I’ve found that the commercially available protection pads don’t stay stuck. What I do now that works much better is just use a strip of gaffer tape. Works great and stays in place.
