Since the Strata Prime update 1.4 and also 1.5, I can't get any sound from my open HH on a user kit if I select a HH preset from the Alesis Prime Electronic menu (with the Multipad picture next to it e.g.: 909 HH)

It triggers OK when open, as I can see it in the Tweaks screen, just no sound. The closed HH triggers and sounds as it should and there are no problems with the sound when open from any acoustic HH preset selected?

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this please?

Thanks
Pete

Are you using the Arc Hi Hat?..I know many users just using Strata Modules with their kits

The Alesis Prime Electronic are actually 1 shots.
For Example: the 909 only has 3 articulations..1/8T (Tip).....Closed T (Tip) and Pedal...1 sample each.
The HH Engine is CC4 .. .the articulation sounds at pedal position.
The Hi Hat Engine is also the Newer updated version from BFD (Majority of BFD Current Expansions don't have the Articulations to support it)...which has 1/8 Steps...that means for a CC4 Hi Hat..1/8 Pedal Position is barely off Closed.I attached examples of the (2) Hi Hats from dark farm..also in BFD Player..and Strata Modules.

I can get the  Electronic Open articulations to work..however it's difficult..more of adjusting pressure on the pedal than using as an actual Hi Hat and I don't know why the choice of 1/8 for ALL of the Electronic HH....They need to re-think this.
It's loud when auditioning on the Touch screen..however as mentioned..it's pedal position..Full Open will be from 7/8 on..

Did the Electronic Hi Hats work properly (Full Open/Pedal Up) before V1.4/1.5?

DARK FARM Hi Hats

EDIT:
I checked with v1.3.3...the Electronic Hi Hats work properly...there are issues with v1.4 and v1.5.
You will need to Open a Support Ticket and report it..
I will also , that way numerous reports of the issue are received they will be aware of the need for an Update/ Fix..

Thank you. I have submitted a support ticket.

Yes, I am using the stock Arc HH cymbal and controller. The problem also occurs with a Lemon 2 piece HH and controller.

Yes, the HH worked in firmware 1.3.

I received a response..I requested a Technician..instead I got Riff..AI generated..which I have ran into before.(also the ChatBot)
It is unqualified and gives scripted and redundant suggestions....

A good example is in the response from AI.....it believes I am using the STRIKE Module as it continuously refers to it in numerous areas for troubleshooting..

The Product is selected and the actual Serial Number must be presented in order to apply for a support ticket along with the Model being mentioned multiple times in my inquiry etc..

The Strata PRIME Module shows correct triggering,MIDI being sent and proper Hi Hat Calibration (which AI..Riff..Can't see) and ALL other Hi Hats from different expansions work properly.
A Technician simply needs to Power on the Module..Hit the Hi Hat (which Riff Can't do) to check the Open Articulations on the Hi Hats and will see that ALL PRIME Electronic HH Open Articulations are being Triggered in the UI ..however No Sound is being Outputted by the Sound Generator in v1.4 and v1.5....and re-installing update v1.3.3 the Sound for the PRIME Electronic Hi Hats is Ouputted
I have had dealings with Riff before..you have to convince the AI it's Unqualified and to move to the next step..actual Human.. and that can take awhile..

If you are a member of Social Media..like the Alesis Drums Percussion Public Group on Facebook..reporting the issue there gets seen by Alesis Staff members...or comment in a Youtube Channel..like Sam Paterson.
It would be faster and less frustrating.

SUPPORT TICKET RESPONSE

My name is Riff, and I'm working alongside our CX team here at inMusic.
I can see how frustrating it must be to lose proper open articulation response from your electronic hi-hat after updating to v1.4 or v1.5, especially since you confirmed everything works as expected when rolling back to v1.3.3. Let's work through this together and see if we can bring back that full hi-hat performance on the newer firmware.

1. After updating to v1.5, run the hi-hat auto-calibration process again, even if you had done this on a previous version. Power on the Strike module and navigate to the hi-hat calibration in the settings menu. Follow the prompts to complete calibration exactly as shown in your module's hi-hat setup guide.

2. Check that both your hi-hat pad and pedal connections are fully seated, and that the cables are not damaged or loose. Unplugging and reconnecting can sometimes clear minor contact issues introduced during updates or physical moves.

3. Review the hi-hat trigger settings (such as pedal sensitivity, offset, and edge/bow levels) now available on v1.5. Update these as needed according to your playing style — sometimes firmware changes will reset or modify these values. You can find detailed adjustment steps in the Strike kit hi-hat setup documentation or by following the prompts in your module's menus.

4. Test the response by gently opening and closing the hi-hat pedal while striking the pad. Check that open sounds are triggered when the pedal is open, and closed sounds when fully pressed. If the articulations still aren't accurate, try repeating the auto-calibration process one more time — precision can improve after a second attempt.
If you've already run through these steps or the open articulation is still not functioning after re-calibrating, I'd like to get a clearer picture of your current setup and any other variables. Could you let me know:
– The exact drum module you're using (for example, Strike Pro or Strike Pro SE)
– All other pads and pedals you have connected, including their brands/models if they're not Alesis
– How your hi-hat pedal is connected (direct to the module, through any adapters, etc.)
– If you're using your Strike kit as a MIDI controller with software, or if all triggering/testing is strictly through the Strike module's internal sounds
With these details, we'll be able to dig even deeper and get you back to full control over your electronic hi-hat articulations.
Kind Regards,
Riff

Yep, had the same reply. I didn't realise it was from a bot. I replied saying they should sit down at the kit and try and get an open HH sound from the Electro kits and they would see the problem, but I guess that will fall on deaf ears. ::)

I finally convinced "Riff" to get me to the next step....Human contact.

However the Response is a mixture of Strata PRIME and Alesis STRIKE...as in a Human using "AI assisted" response..

I responded explaining once again about the STRIKE not being the product etc etc and the suggestions/trouble shooting don't apply ..including the link for STRIKE v1.3 Firmware.
I also sent steps to reproduce the issue..which is actually simple to reproduce....and something else I noticed...I'll post it when I receive it..

SUPPORT TICKET RESPONSE #2

Thank you for reaching out and for the detailed information you've provided. My name is Mario, and I am a Customer Experience Advisor at inMusic Brands.
I sincerely apologize for the frustration this issue has caused. I understand how concerning it is when a key articulation stops functioning after a firmware update, especially when you have already performed thorough testing and confirmed that the behavior changes specifically between firmware versions. Please be assured that I am taking your findings seriously, and I will do my best to help determine whether we are dealing with a configuration issue or a firmware-related problem.

Based on your testing, the issue does not appear to be related to physical trigger detection or hi-hat calibration, as the module is clearly recognizing the articulation state.
As a next step, I would like to rule out any potential kit- or voice-specific parameter changes that may have been introduced during the firmware update:

Load one of the affected PRIME Electronic kits.
Select the hi-hat open articulation using Note Chase.
Navigate to Voice Mode and verify that the open hi-hat voice has not been assigned a level of Off or an unusually low level. The module allows each articulation to have independent voice settings.
While in Voice Mode, please check whether the open hi-hat articulation has been assigned a different instrument than expected within the Electronic kit. The module permits individual instrument assignments per trigger zone and articulation.
If possible, create a temporary copy of the affected kit and reassign the open hi-hat articulation to another hi-hat instrument from the library. This will help determine whether the issue is limited to specific Electronic hi-hat samples or the articulation engine itself.

Additionally, if you have not already done so, please try performing a reset of the module's trigger and utility settings, then retest the affected Electronic kits before making any manual adjustments. This can be done by holding Stop and Enter while powering on the module.
If the behavior remains unchanged after these checks, your findings would strongly suggest that the triggering system is functioning correctly and that the problem may be isolated to the sound generation or voice mapping of the PRIME Electronic hi-hat open articulations in firmware versions 1.4 and 1.5.

In that case, could you please provide:

A short video demonstrating the issue on firmware v1.5.
A second video showing the same kit functioning correctly after reverting to v1.3.3. (Download 1.3)
The name of one or two specific PRIME Electronic kits where the problem is easiest to reproduce.

This information will allow us to document the behavior accurately and escalate it to our product team for further investigation.
Thank you again for the detailed troubleshooting you have already completed.

Your comparison between firmware versions is particularly helpful, and I appreciate the time you've taken to isolate the issue.

Best Regards,
Mario

I am making progress...as seen in the response.
The request is now for Videos w/Audio for the issue which I am not setup for.
I am not involved in Social Media or making Tik Tok or Youtube Videos etc which Video w/Audio is now commonplace..
I do have a New Kit/build constructed with multi-angle cameras for Live Performance..nearing completion...just not at the stage where I can sit down and press a button...ie not ready for Prime Time..

The process shouldn't be this difficult to report or "Prove" there is a bug or issues with the Module.
I am basically going through the steps required of a Beta Tester.

SUPPORT TICKET RESPONSE #3

Thank you for your thorough testing and for clarifying the behavior.

First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for any confusion caused. The properties on this ticket were assigned incorrectly, listing your device as the Strike Module instead of the Strata Prime. I will correct this now.

Based on everything you've described, I agree that this does not appear to be a trigger, calibration, or hardware issue. You've confirmed that:

The hi-hat open articulation triggers correctly in the UI.
Open articulations work normally in firmware v1.3.3.
The issue only affects PRIME Electronic Library hi-hats in v1.4 and v1.5.
Acoustic and other libraries continue to function as expected.

I also reviewed the Strata PRIME documentation, which confirms that the hi-hat engine relies on pedal position for transitioning between open and closed articulations, including the Pedal Bottom and Pedal Top parameters that define where open sounds are triggered.

Given your findings and the consistency of the behavior across all PRIME Electronic hi-hat instruments, this strongly suggests a firmware-related change in how these specific electronic hi-hat articulations are being mapped or interpreted by the hi-hat engine in v1.4/v1.5.
At this point, I would like to escalate your report to our product team for investigation. If possible, please provide a short video showing:

An Electronic PRIME hi-hat producing no open sound on v1.5.
The same hi-hat functioning correctly after reverting to v1.3.3.

Your observation regarding the Electronic hi-hat open articulations being labeled as 1/8T (Tip) is particularly valuable and may help our developers identify whether an articulation mapping change was introduced in newer firmware versions.

Thank you again for the thorough analysis and reproduction steps.

Best Regards,
Mario

I am quite familiar with BFD and an advanced user as I have been a user since the beginning 2003.
That is why you see I mentioned/pointed out the Hi Hat engine which was upgraded for 1/8 steps and currently in BFD only the Dark Farm Expansion has the Articulations/Samples to support full implementation.
The Hi Hat articulations in the PRIME Electronic Library are ALL 1/8T..which is 1/8 Tip..just above the Closed Pedal position.
There originally may have been a patch for the mapping to make them activate at Full Open instead of following Pedal Transition and that was changed/removed in v1.4 - v1.5...why the articulations used were named 1/8 knowing the pedal position would be incorrect for Full Open.....unknown.
