No name Low Volume Cymbals
« on: October 16, 2019, 08:41:48 AM »
I didn't quite know where to put this topic so I decided to put in here since this will be a potential DIY.

Does anyone have any experience with any of the cheap low volume cymbals made in China?

Keeping in mind these will be dampened so their audible sound "un-triggered" is not important.  I'm just concerned with durability.

I found a ton on Alibaba and some really good prices.  Since I could care less about their actual audible sound I though these would make great DIY cymbal candidates.

I'd put up a link but can't I'm blocked from shopping sites at work  :(.  If you search low volume cymbals you'll see tons.  I contacted someone representing the Tongxiang Muscial Instrument Factory.    Prices were 8" - $9.40      10" - $11.40     12" - $13.40 for splashes.  Pretty sweet compared to any premium brand name.

I didn't ask but they also have 13"/14"/16"/18"/20" crashes   18"/20" ride.  I don't know if the bells on the rides are different from the crashes.  I'm also asking if they make China.

Oh...... they also come in purdy colors!

Here is the rest of their price list

13" hi hat - $14.50
14" hi hat - $15.20

14" crash - $8.50
16" crash - $10.20
18" crash - $11.70

20" ride - $13.70

18" china - $15.50

I think I'm going to order an 10" splash as well as a China and give these a try

the website is a bit wonky and not easy to navigate.... try this link

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Low-Volume-Cymbals-set-mute-Tongxiang_60749947001.html

It isn't easy to see all their offerings but you can try this.....

In the top search bar type "low volume cymbals"

then click the "Suppliers" tab at the top

then look for Zhangqiu Tongxiang Musical Instrument Factory

you can see all the different types they have

Cool! Thanks for the link. I normally don't purchase from Alibaba as that is normally for people to buy in bulk. You might want to try Aliexpress as that is the consumer side of Alibaba. By the way here's a link of just one of the offerings I found on Aliexpress.com:

Here's a pic:

Just a word of caution, the shipping costs can be quite high for cymbals because they are heavy.

Thank you for the link.  I will check them out as well.  I was able to get a quote for a 10" splash and 16" china for $68.40 shipped.  I didn't think that was too bad.

I know most of the places on alibaba you need to place orders for certain amounts.  This company does't have those restrictions
