DM-10 as MIDI module
« on: June 30, 2010, 06:32:37 PM »
I just got the DM10 and haven't had a chance to really test it out, but I have a question about its MIDI capability.  Many of my musician friends do "solo" or "duo" acts using a laptop playing MIDI files through a sound module for backup.  Since the DM10 has a lot of instruments besides drums in its sound banks, would it be possible to use it as a MIDI module in the same manner?  It may not have as many or as top quality instrument sounds as a Roland or E-mu module like many of these acts use, but it would probably be fine for me to play along with at home if it can be done.  I've been drumming for, well let's just say a long time, but I'm pretty new to MIDI.  Any comments welcome.

Sure you could. With midi you can play all the internal sounds from a keyboard or any other midi controller.

The thing I found with the DM10 as a MIDI module is that the ride and hi-hat MIDI notes cannot be edited.  Is this a problem for you?  maybe, maybe not.
Just an FYI.  otherwise, it seems great.  The trigger IO is a great MIDI module, too - but then, it can ONLY be MIDI!
Good luck!!
