« on: June 24, 2010, 12:11:45 PM »
my installation of the dm10 usb drivers keeps failing so i cant get my dm10 recognised in superior drummer. is there a file i have to download for it at all or should it just be plug and play?

Did you use a different OS before?   I'm wondering if it's a Win7 issue.  64bit or 32?

I suggest going to 3dguru.com (or guru3d.com) and posting your question there.  Lot's of good computer guys at that forum.  (sounds like a windows question, imo)

will check when i get home.  i got it working for both win7 32bit and 64bit.

i believe i encountered the same problem before.  try these steps:
- disconnect USB
- turn off DM10
- connect USB
- turn on DM10

tried everyway i i could possibly think of and no joy. when i check device manager it says "this device cannot start error code 10"  googled that phrase and its no help at all. all the sound card drivers etc are up to date. i checked the alesis updater and it cant find the dm10 either its damn annoying especially as it worked a few weeks ago on the same laptop

My additional two cents...

Uninstall sound card drivers and usb drivers.
(do you have an old serial keyboard?)
Reboot.
When it comes back up, it'll auto detect the sound card and usb.  Reinstall drivers, making sure to only use WHQL drivers.

Or.. as a test... do you have any other usb items that this machine has not seen before than you can plug in and see if it has the same trouble?  for example, a jump drive, or different model mouse.

try this:
when you get the this device cannot start error code, go to:
- Device Manager (Right Click on Computer then click Manage)
- Look for the DM10 entry (Should be in Sound, Video....)
- Right Click | Uninstall

check also for unidentified devices (ones with ? marks) and uninstall them.

what sound card are u using?  if it's not asio capable, download asio4all, it already has win7 64bit support.

http://asio4all.com/

then in SD, set your output to the ASIO driver.

yeah i downloaded asio when i was trying to sort out my first issue. when i use asio4all then i cant hear any noise from the kit but it still triggers i have to switch it to the primary sound driver to get any sound but then its laggy :-\ any ideas at all?

other than getting an audio card/interface with ASIO drivers, just work on getting the ASIO driver working.  could be just a setting either on SD, ASIO or Windows itself.

i ended up getting a used Tascam US-122 which works both as a MIDI and audio interface so i just have one connection going to my computer.  The DM10 connects to the US-122 via MIDI cable and from US-122 a USB connection to the computer. (DM10 MIDI Out --> US-122 MIDI IN/US-122 USB --> Computer USB).

P.S. try using the WDM driver if it's available for your sound card.
