Snare sensitivity adjustment

I was investigating my Command set and noticed a small knob on the shell of the snare. I found nothing in the instructions about it so I did a Google search and found out it was a snare sensitivity adjustment. I turn it and nothing happens. What is suppose to change when I turn it?  I realize it changes the sensitivity but I don't understand how that works in the real world. It is the pressure of the sticks on the mesh or the crosstalk sensitivity?

It's the cross-talk sensitivity between the head and the rim.  On my MK II, it just increases the volume slightly.
Simple does not equal easy.
