Is the inside of this crimson II 10? pad factory?
« on: September 05, 2024, 05:03:52 AM »
I bought a crimson II tonight for an unbelievable deal & got home and noticed one screw missing on the back of all the toms. Just wondering is the way the 10? pad is supposed to be or has it been altered?

Welcome to the Forum !

What screw is missing?..I don't see any reference to it...the image is all of the Top Views.
The Kit appears to be a Crimson II SE (White Mesh Heads..Black Hoops..Gold Hardware).
The SE are typically Guitar Center Releases but I have also seen over-seas.Thomanns,Anderstons etc.You will not find them on the Alesis web sites.

The shells may be Generic have multiple threaded standoffs for different trigger plate configurations for use with Multiple Models as the wav form is interpreted different for each Module/Firmware and the Sensitivity Knob may be of No benefit for those Modules

Alesis Mesh Triggers have changed multiple times over the years , especially after 2016.
Alesis is also know to re-purpose extra/older inventory by changing a few components or updating/upgrading them..including the use of sensitivity (blend) knobs , which some may or may not have.
There was a report including a post (2017) with a rep response that only US Kits were allowed to have the Sensitivity Knob..the post was about the DM10 Mesh Kits , I don't know whatever became of that or if it still applies.
The Andertons UK Store still has the SE II listed  , however I don't see the Sensitivity Knobs..Thomanns shows as no longer available , so No images for reference.

The Crimson and Crimson II Kits have always had the Trigger Configuration with the inner and outer pickups with Sensitivity Knob
The main differences between the Crimson Models..Crimson I and II were trigger sizes.. and the Crimson II supposedly had higher quality versions of the same samples and supported the Pro-X (FSR) Hi Hat...the Original Crimson was discontinued years ago.

The Image/Trigger shown does not have inner and outer pickups with Sensitivity Knob.

It does have the Foam Dust Cover which shows the position of the inner/Outer Foam Towers for a Trigger Plate configuration with the center/Head/Inner Pickup/Piezo  and a separate trigger Plate with multiple Foam Towers that surrounded it for the 2nd "Outer" Pickup/Piezo.The Rim Piezo is directly below the Center/Head/Inner Piezo.
It also appears (2) additional (Non Stepped) Foam Columns were added to the Center Plate..probably to assist in preventing the Trigger Plate Cracking/Breaking which plagued a number of Models.
I attached the Patents for the Triggers and you'll see multiple configurations using multiple shells etc.

NOTE:
I did a lot of searching and couldn't find an image of an Crimson II SE  Trigger (White Heads) with the sensitivity Knob..US or abroad.
Including Ebay..Reverb etc etc...may be the SE Kits do not have the standard Crimson Trigger setup..and have an entirely different configuration.

In this Video New Alesis Crimson II Special Edition - Strike Mesh Technology at an Affordable Price! .Posted in this Topic.....there is No Mention of the Sensitivity Knob during the Demo.

In the Drumtec unboxing/setup Video..there is Not a Sensitivity Knob on any of the Triggers.

I thought I responded to this but I guess it didn?t post. Thank you so very much for that detailed response. You gave me a lot of knowledge I didn?t know and I?m new to electronic drums so it?s much appreciated. I?m super happy with the kit. The only thing I can complain about (is really nothing considering I paid 250 for it lol) but the crash 2 plug doesn?t work. Tried to factory reset it, still nothing. It?s not the cymbal itself or the cord. Any suggestions of fixing this?

The Crash 2 input recognizes either a 1/4 (6.5mm) TS(Mono)  or a 1/4" (6.5mm) TRS (Stereo) cable.
If using a TS Cable a Dual Zone Cymbal will not choke...but the Bow still works.
If using a TRS Cable a Single Zone Cymbal still works.
Tested with 10" single and 10" single with Choke which the Choke area (dots) can also be hit for a 2nd Zone.

The Command,Crimson,CrimsonII,DM10 MKII Studio and Forge are based on the Medeli DD650.
They all use the same DB25 Trigger harness. The difference between them is hardware/triggers and Firmware.
These Modules have a Test Mode that is not Publicized. You can test the Crash 2 Input..however I have never seen where the input was bad..usually it's the Trigger or the cable.

Module Tests ...
press and hold Down+Up buttons simultaneously while powering on ..you'll see the Alesis splash screen..Firmware Version .. "Booting"..
Then you'll see the main menu ...use the up/down buttons to maneuver...press down to pad test which is #2...press enter
There will be a PAD... and Value...
For the Hi Hat
The "Pad" will show which trigger is being hit or in this case pressed..the "Value" will show if the hit or in this case pedal pressure/position is detected and what velocity...press the pedal the "PAD" should show HH-P.. at different pressures and speeds press the pedal..a hard sharp jab should show around 127..it will vary the test is just to confirm the pedal is working...
Once you have complete your test(s)...then "Exit"..go to 8 erp..the module will power down.
