DM6 Hi-Hat Pedal for DM7x
« on: August 28, 2024, 08:37:17 AM »
I recently got a DM7x Session kit. The hi-hat controller is broken. Im trying to figure out if DM6 pedal should work? Is there a reference list somewhere of what kits / bits are compatible with other kits?

Welcome to the Forum !

The short Lived DM7X became the Nitro..you can still see the Model labeled (DM7) on the bottom of the Module on the Nitro Page...This Module is based on the Medeli DD512.
The DM6 is Open/Closed Switch Type Pedal (Original DMHat). The Realhat is Continuous/Variable.. DMHat V2 is a "Continuous/Variable "Type"..However it is Not Continuous and Not Open/Closed.
The image on the DM7X shows the Realhat...however it should be the early DMHat V2 which was available in both 1/8 and 1/4 jack inputs and in the Realhat Pedal Housing.1/4" jack was older and the Newer Nitro has 1/8" for the Hi hat Controller and the MIDI Mapping shows a 1/2 open Note ..so I would check the cable on your harness and see if it is 1/8" or 1/4" for the Hi Hat Controller and look for the DMHat V2.Alesis created a lot of confusion Mixing and Matching and it's only been recently discovered what all the actual differences are between the Realhat..DMHat and DMHat V2.

so, its a 1/4" jack. the label under the pedal / against the inside of the base says "DMHat Pedal Open/Closed" and i know from having taken it apart its got the "Stepped" Rubber Actuator and a "Segmented" Linear Softpot thta you detailed in the link. Unfortunately cleaning it after taking it apart didnt fix the issue.

thx again, think i know what im after.
