Can anyone help figure out how to connect a new iPad and Bluetooth headphones to the DM6 kit? I plan on purchasing a new Alexis kit soon but I want to get back into playing before I do. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum !

Which DM6 Kit?
There were 2..
The original DM6 (DD501)..and the DM6 Nitro (Medeli DD512).
Exact same Kits..different Modules.
The user guide for the DD501 is a more comprehensive Manual(21 pg) compared to the Alesis User Guide which is 12 pg and split up into multiple languages...in fact if you click the Sound List for the DM6 downloads the Sound List link will show it's from the DD501 Manual.

The Original DM6 Module and the DM6 Nitro are both Older Medeli Modules and do not have many of the current features offered by some of the current Drum Modules like USB Audio or Bluetooth (Audio or MIDI).
You will have to use additional hardware to connect...depending on what you are wanting to accomplish.

How are you planning on using the Kit with the iPad?.
MIDI in for use as a MIDI Controller for apps/recording etc and monitor iPad with Bluetooth Headphones?
Sending DM6 Audio from the Module to the iPad/recording etc and monitor iPad with Bluetooth Headphones?
Send iPad Audio to the DM  Module to Play along and Monitor Module with Bluetooth Headphones?

Simplest setup is using the Module as a MIDI Controller to iPad..then pair the Headphones with the iPad.
The other options require additional Hardware...which starts to add up.
Newer more recent Modules have Bluetooth Audio to play along...Not Bluetooth for Headphones or MIDI as Latency is introduced.

For MIDI ..there are New Cables on the Market that you can use to connect the Module directly to an iPad without an Interface or Apple Camera Kit.The iPad will not charge while in use.

There are some Aftermarket 3-1 USB Adapters (camera kits) that have USB,Charging and Audio out, however it's hit n miss  as far as functionality and simultaneous use..some are Apple MCI Certified and still don't work so make sure you check the reviews on Amazon etc etc.

USB B to Lightning

USB B to USB C

USB 3 in 1 adapter (Lightning)

USB 3 in 1 adapter (USB C)

The Unknown for the original DM6 Module is even though it's Class Compliant..the drivers may be Incompatible (Old) and Apple is constantly changing the Operating systems.
The only sure way to find out is purchase a cable , which can also be used later on for a New Module.
The original DM6 Module has been out for around 15-20 years and was also included with the ION Kits.

One thing to keep in mind is if it's the original DM6 Module (DD501) the MIDI mapping is "Fixed"..you can't change it and a number of iOS apps have "Fixed" MIDI Mapping (No Maps per Manufacturer,Brand etc etc) and require you to re-map the module to match the app.
If it's the DM6 Nitro Kit you can remap the Module (Medeli DD512).
