Glad to be here!

Hi all!

I just got my Alesis Nitro Pro XL and I'm new to edrums. I can't compare this kit to other edrums because I never played other kits and bought this specific kit based on reviews, YT videos, and general discussion on Reddit, etc. I have an acoustic kit, a Ludwig, where I practice with my band so I needed something to use at home that takes up little space and not loud. I've been drumming since I was 14 so it's now 54 years that I've been banging!

I must say I'm very happy with it. It was very simple to install and it's very sturdy. I'm happy with the sounds installed on the brain and for now I'm listening to all the kits and jotting down any specific sound I like so I can make my own kit or kits so I can use them for specific styles.

The things that I'm not too fond of is the hihat pedal for sure and I have to modify the bass pedal a bit so it wont bounce too much on the pad.

The only problem I have (I never thought it would be a problem) is finding a pair of headphones where I can hear the full sound of each kit. The ones I had (Philips) attenuated the sound so much that I could hear myself hitting the pads. I'm pretty sure it's an impedance problem so it's just a question of time before I find the right ones where the sound will kick me in the gut.

Thank you for letting me join and I have some reading to do in the posts (whenever I have some time) and I'll try not to ask too  many dumb questions.

Happy drumming!

Welcome to the forum Dom! Most acoustic drummers coming to edrum tend not to like most HiHat pedals with edrums. Honesty, only the higher end edrum kits have good hiHats.

As for your headphone issue, I would suggest ZS10 Pro in ear monitors.

I use them and they sound really good for the price.

Again, welcome to the forum.

You should try noise cancelling over ear headphones. My first pair did a fair job.. I'm now using my Audio Technica monitoring phones without cancellation, still good, I like the sound I get with them, personally
