Are there 3rd-party pedals compatible with Nitro Pro?
« on: September 08, 2025, 11:34:47 PM »
I have a Nitro Pro drum kit, but the entire hi-hat pedal controller has stopped working. I've tried to get one, but haven't been successful, so I'm looking for options and have come across some from brands like Yamaha, Nux, Leconova, and Roland, but I don't know if they're compatible with my kit or not.

Have you had any experience with third-party pedals that are compatible with this type of kit?

Welcome to the Forum !

The Nitro Series Modules (same Module..Pro has more KIts/Instruments) do not use a Variable pedal with Full CC Range.
They use a Variable "Type" Pedal which is a segmented softpot.
The Module sends a 1/2 Open (MIDI Note 23) which the Majority of Alesis Modules and other Brands (which also have a different resistance range) do not have.
There are No 3rd Party pedals for this module...there is an optional Hi Hat not offered in the US , however there is some confusion
You can find a repair kit and other info in this Topic ..otherwise look for a DMHat V2..there are plenty on the Market...earlier design had a ribbed top pedal and the Realhat assembly (Metal)..later Oval with Alesis Logo and Plastic/housing assembly...also some of the early V2 (Ribbed Pedal) had a 1/4" (6.35mm) Jack (Surge Module) which later was changed to 1/8" , I presume to eliminate confusion (Alesis created a lot of confusion mixing matching parts) as there is/was also a DMHat Pedal also labeled open/closed that used a switch.Pay close attention to the metal piece that presses on the rubber actuator..the one used with switch type is not triangle shaped and the switch type does not use a rubber actuator which you can't see unless the image peers inside the pedal.

Okay, thanks for your answer. I'll try to get the repair kit, hoping it'll be enough. I'll share my experience once I get it.

There isn't much info or feedback for the DMHat Repair Kits.
I see the prices and inventory fluctuate daily and some versions out of stock for different sellers.
Sellers are listing the sensor as FSR.

This seller has all 3 versions

Alesis Hi Hat Repair Kits

There are (3) for the DMHat..(1) switch and (2) Segmented Softpots.(listed as FSR)
I would double check and see exactly which one you require as there may have been a transition period where the housing changed but the sensor was carried over etc etc.
It wouldn't be the 1st time..hard to say with Alesis mixing parts between Kits.
The earlier DMHat V2 with the Realhat Housing may have used a different segmented Sensor/Softpot than the later V2.
The spacing between sensors/pads and the holes for the alignment pins appear to be the same...however the difference in width of the Pads is nearly double.

I posted a breakdown for the current DMHat V2 Model in this Topic

The segments on the rubber actuator don't line up exactly perfectly with the sensor on the pedal..which may be why I am seeing a lot of Non-working Pedals for sale on ebay.
I found a DMHat V2..early version with the Realhat housing..1/4 jack..(Surge Kit) cheap.
The Nitro/Surge used the same Module..different hardware and Triggers. The Surge was an Upgrade.
After I receive it I will check it out and test it with a Nitro Max Module I have laying around.
I will also check if a Realhat Actuator works or makes any difference compared to the Segmented one in the V2.

I am also seeing a  Replacement Hi Hat Control Pedal For Alesis Strike Multipad Compact kit7 Roland SPD-SX SPD-30

The Alesis STRIKE Multipad didn't come with a Hi Hat Pedal to be replaced.

and another..which has a recent "Positive" review Sept 4,2025 with one of the earlier Nitro Modules.

Hi Hat Open Close Control DMhat Pedal Compatible With Alesis Nitro mesh Kit,DM7X,Surge,Nitro,DM6,Medeli DD505 515

Unknown exactly what these Pedals are...The appear to be the same Pedal with a 1/4 Jack and include an 1/8 adapter.
The Positive review indicates they may be using a segmented sensor as there is no mention of there not being a 1/2 Open Pedal.
