Windows 11 now won't connect to Strike Pro Module (Strike Editor)
« on: September 07, 2025, 10:05:08 AM »
I am trying to connect like I have many times before, same PC, but now it won't connect. Lasty time may have been 4 months ago when I connected. I have a back up module and it is the same thing. When I go into Windows devices, it's says there is no driver for it. What happened?!? Was it a Windows update?

Is there a driver I can download? I did try reinstalling the Strike Editor software.

Thanks for any assistance.

The Module and Editor are listed as Not Supported..the Firmware Updater is in Testing , however if the Module can't connect or seen by the system I don't expect it to be supported and there hasn't been an update since around 2019..
MIDI 2.0 for Windows is a Major System update and nearly completed for release.

The last I seen/heard the MIDI 2.0 Update was being tested in the Canary Builds and wasn't ready for the Public and I don't know if it will solve the issue.
It is supposed to be backwards compatibile with all MIDI 1.0 devices.

Sorry, no help here.  Just posting to say that if there was an editor that worked and now you can't access it, that really sucks.
No editor listed on the site either:  https://www.strikemultipad.com/index.html#downloads

That's one thing I hate about my Yamaha M12.
It's a bit of a nightmare to edit from the unit, and there never was a pc editing program for it.
I guess they had some i-pad thing for it, but I never had one of those.

You have my sympathy, and this is really making me think twice about getting one of those.

There has never been an Editor for the STRIKE Multipad...

The STRIKE Drum Module and STRIKE Multipad are completely different systems.

The STRIKE Editor is Hardware dependent...the STRIKE Drum Module must be connected to the Computer and the Editor scans both SD Cards..

My mistake.  I haven't kept up with the details on this stuff.  Sounds like a problem though.

Really makes me appreciate my acoustic drums.  I'm not sure how far I want to go with all the problems with electronic stuff.

You get out of it..what you put into it..
If an Editor is a Deal Breaker..prepare yourself...The majority of electronic drums/hardware don't have one.
The issue with Acoustic Drums being what they are...Acoustically LOUD and space consumption ... is what has fueled/created the E-Drum/Percussion Industry allowing Apartment dwellers..Night Owls etc along with using Vst/Drum software to be able to learn/play drums.

That's one thing I hate about my Yamaha M12.

The Yamaha DTXM12 has been out for years and a  proven work Horse for Touring Gear.
The DTXM12 Touch app for iOS works very well....apparently Yamaha had an issue keeping up  with Apple requirements constantly changing after updates (which many Developers also have run into...almost annually now) and there were a few years in gaps between updates , however I show it current for iOS 17 and 18....

There are specific cables now that eliminate having to use an interface with specific iPad Models and Class Compliant Electronics.

I have tested and used a USB Type-B to Lightning cable for Alesis products which didn't exist and I rarely see it mentioned being used...I can confirm it is also supports Bi-Directional USB Audio which some Products..like the STRIKE Multipad..have this Feature.
There are now also USB-C to USB-B  cables for the more recent iPads/iPhones.Always Check the Reviews.(Android has issues)
I see this particular USB C to B cable which has over 10k sales
These cables eliminate the camera Kit.
It would be nice to finally see just one standard for USB Ports.
You can create very complex multi-layered instruments with minimal hardware..an iPad or iPhone..USB cable and a Multipad.
The DTXM12 should be compatible as it is listed under the YAMAHA Smart Device Connection Manual for iPhone/iPad
I No longer have a DTXM12 as I loaned it out during COVID 19 and was talked out of it.

So this is a MIDI issue? Maybe there is a MIDI driver that I deleted. I also used to hook up a Novation keyboard and needed a special driver.

Alesis Products are Class Compliant (USB v1.1 -Standard since 1999)...there are No additional drivers such as "High Speed" USB 2.0.

You can go to Device manager..with the Module connected/driver installed.. and uninstall..(Re-Boot computer first to eliminate any question about the uninstall of the driver) then re-connect to see if it installs , typically if there are issues ..you will see a Yellow Triangle with Exclamation mark and you see an error "Partial Installation" etc  under the Device properties etc.

Follow-up....here is a suggestion from a person on the Alesis group on FB.

Try adjusting the program's "compatibility mode" in Windows down to a lower Windows version.
Also - swap the USB cable - just so you know it's not that.
Also - plug into a different USB socket - will make Windows reload/check the drivers if necessary.
Also - try another computer with Win 10 or less - so you can check the module/USB/etc.
It's a case of eliminating the possibilities one by one.
