connecting 2 Alesis strike pro SE modules together
« on: September 05, 2025, 05:47:33 AM »
I have an Alesis strike pro SE, was looking to expand it a bit and got a really good offer to buy another strike pro SE.
Question is: can I link the 2 modules together via MIDI, using one as slave and the other as master (on which I'd connect my headphones).
That way in theory I could create a monster-kit, controlling one half of the kit via the slave before sending it to the master-module, If I'm using the same kit and settings on both modules, everything should be synced and sound alike ?

Or am I seeing things too simple ?  :)
If so, what would be (if any) the correct way to link these 2 modules together so I can create a bigger kit ?

other option would be to use the headphone out to aux in, thinking that would work too (maybe even better)

Sort of...Meaning you can, but it wouldn't gain you anything. The problem with this set-up is the Strike doesn't have any midi instruments past the trigger inputs of the module. So that is the max limit of instruments. The Strike is limited in that sense that it can't expand (unlike the old DM10 which it replaced).

If you are wanting more instruments (i.e. drum pieces) than the inputs of one module, this would be your only option.

could ezdrummer3 be an option too ?
If I understand correctly, I'd have to setup each module in ezdrummer3 individually, it wouldn't be possible to create 1 giant kit in ezdrummer3 with both modules linked to that ?

Off topic, but if you are a performing drummer, I highly recommend getting a back up module.

I haven't used ezdrummer so I don't know the specifics of that software. To answer your question you most likely can if you understand midi note assignment within the modules.

Because you are using two of the same modules, one of your modules will need to have all the the midi note assignments changed for every trigger you have in that secondary module.  So you will need to have a basic understanding of midi to do this.
