When I started on this journey, I bought a pair of headphones that I thought would be OK. I recently purchased a pair of in-ear monitor ear buds and OMG what a difference in the sound of my set. It is louder and I had to turn the volume way down compared to the headphones. I could barely hear the ride cymbal and now it is louder and clear. I highly recommend the in-ear monitors. The were $17 on Amazon.
