Alesis DM10 MK1 (original) AC power adapter DIY
« on: July 14, 2025, 01:58:42 PM »
Hello Everybody,

I have a DM10 that takes 9V AC input power, 1.5Amps.

My mains it 240VAC, 50Hz.

I am not finding a switching power supply with this specification. So, I am thinking of using a 240VAC -> 9VAC, 1.5A step down transformer to match the requirement. Just the transformer...no capacitor, etc. It will be a little bulky, but it will provide clean sine wave 9VAC. It's also safe, as a transformer output is galvanically isolated from its input.

Before I go ahead with this, I want to check if anybody has taken this approach, or anybody has any concerns that I haven't considered.

Appreciate your thoughts.
Kish

Giving an update...it may be useful for somebody with same query.

I used a 0-9V 1.5A Stepdown transformer and fed the 9VAC right off the transformer secondary directly to DM10-MK1. It worked. I regularly used it for practice and stage performance in last 1 month. No issues.
