New(ish) to drumming and the DM10

Hi All,

My name is Charlie and at the moment I am 64 years old. I had a few drum lessons as a teenager but couldn?t afford to keep them up and then life got in the way.

So about two years ago, following my divorce, I treated myself to a secondhand Alesis DM10 drumkit thinking that I would finally learn to play the drums. However, I was very disappointed in the feel and sound of the drums. This put me off of using them. The DM10 mostly sat in my lounge unused but I still wanted to learn to play the drums.

I recently decided to look for alternatives to the mylar heads and found many YouTube videos where owners had upgraded their DM10 by fitting mesh heads. I have done the same with my kit and find the playing experience much better.

Now I need to learn how to update the software on my module and improve the trigger setting so that the sensitivity is right for my mesh heads. And so I've joined this forum which looks like the place to be to get advice from fellow users.
