Speaker / amp suggestion for Alessis Nitro Max
« on: March 07, 2024, 05:07:32 PM »
Hi there,

I recently bought an Alessis Nitro Max kit.

When I connect it via its Audio Output L/Mono output to my (basic) Fender bass amp (Fender Rumble 15, https://leomusic.nl/shop/fender-rumble-15), the sound from the amp is much worse than what I hear on my (cheap) headphones. This is true both when I connect it to the amp's i) main input and ii) to its the AUX in input. I was surprised to find out that the bass amp results in worse sound than headphones.

What do you suggest to get some decent external sound from this kit? I guess its output is line level, so I shouldn't necessarily need an amp? Is a speaker-only system good enough? If so which speakers do you recommend? Otherwise, if speakers aren't good enough, which amp do you suggest?

I see that Alessis is selling these Alessis Strike Amp 8 and 12. Should I consider these? Or something else from this selection? https://www.thomann.de/nl/drum_monitor_systemen.html

The intended use is headphone-less practise/play in the basement.

Thanks!

Guitar,Bass,Keyboard Amplifiers etc are have different ranges and the speakers are Voiced differently..
You can get decent results from a PA system if it's meets all the requirements but that is also multiple pieces and sub(s) and placement.

Check these Topics...All of the info you need on what to look for in an Amp.

Using bass speaker for amplification?

Ok so I went ahead and I bought a pair of Mackie Tapco Thump TH-15 Active Speakers. When I connect my Alesis Nitro Max to them and play individual notes, at the end of the note (the release stage) there's a decaying hiss coming from the speakers. Both speakers have it. When the kit is continuously played, you can't really hear it. It only happens with single notes. I tested the speakers with a drum machine and got the same result. Any idea what might be the reason, and how to avoid it?
