Using SR 18 in live performances-setlist capabilities?
« on: November 12, 2024, 11:48:14 AM »
Hello!  I use the SR 18 live and would like to know if there are solutions to have my patches available rather than having to scroll/change parameters for each song?  I have a list of settings but was hoping for a setlist type solution that could load/recognize SR18 parameters.  Thanks for your thoughts!!

Welcome to the Forum !

There isn't a setlist feature...

You can change Kits (only..Not Patterns etc) via Program Changes..

The MIDI Implementation Chart shows the SR18 does not receive Program Changes...however the manual states it can.

SELECT DRUM SETS VIA MIDI PROGRAM CHANGES (PRG CHNG)

SR18 Ref Manual pg 48

PATTERNS

Typically Pads are assigned Patterns and start Patterns so check if a MIDI Note ( matching MIDI Note/Pad assignment) from an External MIDI Controller connected to the MIDI 5 Pin will start a Pattern in Pattern Play Mode...Maybe it will..maybe it won't....I don't have the SR-18 to Test.

20. PTN PLAY  This button enables Pattern Play Mode. In this mode, you can play pre-selected
Patterns in a sequence, using the pads to trigger the Patterns in real-time.

See Playing Patterns With the Pads section.

Thanks Chaser!  Was wondering if there are any other workarounds like using a controller to create a setlist of my patches?  I?m a guitarist and am midi ignorant.  Thanks!

It will depend on you Rig/Setup..
'Back in the Day"..I used programmable MIDI Patchbays and with a Rocktron All Access you could change everything for everyone per song with the push of a footswitch ..or a Keyboardist with a press of a key.

Today...there are other options..like BANDHELPER

Then there is BeatBuddy..it's come along ways in the past few years...including Editor..adding your own samples/patterns/songs etc etc.
You can even purchase "Pre-Owned for about $100 less.

Great info!  My setup is pretty simple?SR18 out to mixing board, non latching foot switches for fill/ stop start.  The Bandhelper sounds interesting.  Thanks!!
