Alesis e-Percussion Module Mount
« on: October 28, 2024, 06:01:04 AM »
I am expanding my Alesis Forge kit.  I have the Alesis Control Pad and the Alesis Trigger I/O.  The proper mount for them is the Alesis e-Percussion Module Mount.  The Trigger I/O came with the mount & I bought one and a spare for the Alesis Control Pad:

Control Pad:

Alesis Trigger I/O:

Mount:

The issue is, the mount is too big to fit into the drum pad L Arm rack mount.  The L Arm insert part is 0.756" (19.25mm) diameter.  The e-Percussion mount is 0.860" to 0.900" (23.0mm to 21.9mm) taper mount.

1. What is the proper Alesis 1.5" tube mount that will hold the Alesis e-Percussion Module Mount?

2. Where can I find a parts listing for the Forge kit with Alesis part numbers?

Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum !

These Module Mounts (7/8" DIA..same as Gibraltar)..were released in the Mid 2000's and the Clamps for the period were a 3 pc Multi-Clamp which was also used for L-Rods...later came the slip on Rack Clamps and Finally the Hatched Clamps.
Kits after 2014 started using Medeli Modules which have a combination clamp/rack mount and DB25 Harness Holder.

The STRIKE Modules were released with the Newer(cheaper/thinner) Module Mount that works with the Hatched style Rack Clamps...Hole Pattern for the Module mounts is the same..

You will not have much luck finding the plastic Multi-Clamps except for older kits ..try searching for DM5 parts , they may pop up..otherwise you can look for a Plastic Multi-Clamp from another Brand for 1-1/2 racks or just purchase Gibraltar Multi-Clamps...you'll find them everywhere.

Gibraltar SC-GPRMC Standard Black Drum Rack Multi Clamp

Gibraltar SC-GRSMC Road Series Black Drum Multi Clamp

This isn't nor has there ever been one...the Forge was the 1st of the Medeli DD650 Re-Brands to be Discontinued..
It used Rubber Pads and was a carry-over of the DM7X with larger snare and premium1-1/2 Rack, other than the Snare... it is a Single Zone Only Kit..including the Ride.
The Single Zone Limit is a Firmware Limitation.

Thanks Chaser!

I bought a few of the Gibraltar clamps.  They look solid.

So is a firmware upgrade possible for the Forge module?  In a past life we would flash our own EPROMS.  I need to pop open the Forge module and look at the boards in it.

Of the other versions of the Forge module, which is the best one to get?

What about the cymbal "choke" feature?  You mean it doesn't work? And why do most of the cables have TRS plugs in them?

Module design has changed since the days when it was actually Alesis.

Jack O'Donnell (Stanton Magnetics) ..Resigned and acquired Numark (1992)..which acquired Alesis (2001) and O'Donnell formed InMusic in 2012 after acquiring AIR from AVID (Digidesign).
Since then O'Donnell/InMusic have acquired numerous companies including recently Stanton Magnetics....so Full Circle.

The Command,Crimson,Crimson II,DM10 MKII Studo and Forge are all based on the Medeli DD650.
The Modules are all the same...same DB25 Harness..same sample Count.
The differences are in the Firmware.
There have never been Firmware Updates for any Module.
To upgrade you purchased the next Kit (or Kit Pieces) up in the Tier...if the Modules Firmware allowed it.The Command/Forge Rides Firmware is locked at Single Zone..
You can check and see if you can activate the Rims for the Toms by connecting the snare to any of the Tom Cables and see if the Rim activates. From what I remember they don't activate , however its been quite a few years.
I do remember the Ride is Single Zone only with Choke...as is the Command.
The 10" Cymbals w/Choke can be used as Dual Zone if an accurate hit on the 7 Choke Dots.
The 10" marked Single ..are just that..Single Zone No Choke.
You can also connect the Ride (10" w/Choke) and see if the Crash 1 Edge activates/Chokes on the DB25 Harness or get a TRS Cable and see if Crash 2 activates/Chokes on the Crash 2 port.
