Advice on the correct placement for a 6-piece kit !
« on: August 27, 2023, 06:29:32 PM »
I've been wondering if my set-up is the most efficient (or correct) for my Alesis kit !

- Some people have the snare a bit to the left, other have front and center.
- Some have their toms flat, others on an angle. I prefer the angle, but what is the best angle to get good bounce-back ?
- What is the best spacing between toms ?
- How far back from the snare should you sit ? So you have a correct extension distance to the toms behind it.
- I think I read the snare should be waist (belt buckle) height ?

Attached is a pic of my current set-up. Any advice on things like the above would be appreciated.

Barry

There are always debates on Kit setup..configuration..Pad positioning etc..
There are many Pro's and Artists that have non-traditional configurations..

Kit setup is more about personalizing to the individual..once you setup the basics for posture, comfort , then you can arrange to your reach etc etc.

Positioning toms flat is usually for those with longer arms/reach..Angling toms too much can cause problems with the wrist.
Don't just setup to a list of measurements or looks based off pictures as bad advice or an improperly setup kit can actually cause physical problems..
