Since my last post, I bought the Alesis DRP 100, $49.00, Great headphones, if you are used to a lot of bass (i.e Beats , or Skullcandy Skull Crushers ...much better than beats), you will find the DRP100's to be lacking bass, as a matter of fact you will find them very flat which makes them perfect for monitoring drums ( or any other instrument for that matter). at $49.00, you really can't pass them up, I ignored the reviews about the bad cable and not working since I can fix anything on headphones and just so happens that after all these years they haven't failed me.... back to the headphones... They provide the best balance in between clarity (for low notes) and not extremely shrilly for high notes. I did try multiple other headphones (all over ear because you should never try to monitor with earbuds save some in-ears which are not the same as earbuds, the only other headphones that I liked were the Sony Playstation headphones, when they were not powered, I guess the drivers are big enough and they sounded great.
