Alesis Pro X Hi Hats Controller
« on: November 07, 2024, 06:01:11 PM »

Hi I recently purchased a set of these and they are missing the controller.

Which is a better option the goedrum GHC-AH or GC6 to replace it?

 Any insight appreciated!

Welcome to the Forum !

You made No Mention for which Module..

One is FSR and the other is Slide Pot (Continuous/Variable).

The Pro-X (FSR) is/was a 12" Single Zone DMPad Cymbal (Top)...the bottom Cymbal and Controller is exactly the same as the Original 12" STRIKE Hi Hat..Biggest complaint was probably that it was loud "Acoustically"

Instrumental Parts has all of the parts for the Controller assembly..

FSR Controller FSR assy - Alesis - 102990119-A
SPRING COVER - Spring Cover - Alesis - 212010367-A
CHROME SPRING  Alesis Strike Pro Kit - Hi Hat Spring - 309070120-A

BLACK: Spring - Alesis - 309070087-A

The Black was the original Spring for the Pro-X (2) pc setup..the Chrome was later on for the SE , although it came out as a fix for the STRIKE 2pc.
I Personally didn't have a problem with the Black Spring if properly setup.

The Chrome Spring prevented the 3 pressure sensors from engaging the top cymbal before the FSR Closes the Hi Hat which is why it then became a single Cymbal with a Boot to cover it.

BLACK/CHROME - SPRING Comparison

The  goedrum GHC-AH uses a Slide Pot..
GHC - Roland
GHC-AN - Alesis
GHC-Y - Yamaha

I don't have a reference for a GC6..
There is a GH6-AN (Complete Hi Hat)..for the Original DM10 and STRIKE..but "may not work well with Alesis other models".

Chaser Thank you for the detailed info and links!!

:o Of course I leave out which module it's for in my quickness to post. It's for an original Alesis DM10 module.

Looking over your reply, it seems i would need to pick up the three pieces from your links

   a. the FSR assembly
   b. the spring cover
   c. either black or chrome spring

When I read the comparison spring thread, it seems everyone ended up using their original spring after trying a replacement or the newer version.
I take it it's going to be a "your mileage may vary situation" / personal preference for this?

Goedrum GHC-AN controller works well with the Nitro Max module too.
There is also a GHC-AC form Crimson modules.

  Help!!

So I ordered all three parts that were needed and now I need just one more...

I need the chrome wingnut that is part of the top hi hat. Not the whole assembly just the chrome wingnut itself.

Does anyone have the part number or have one for sale??

The Wingnut for the Clutch?....it is typically 6mm or 8mm.
The wingnuts on the top of most cymbal boom/arm setups are usually 8mm..the wingnuts for the Toms are 6mm..you can check the thread with one of those..

Gibraltar carries both sizes..Gibraltar-SC-13P2-Heavy-Duty-Wing and the 13P3...I replace the wingnut on all of the Clutches to match the Gibraltar hardware I use on Kits..
You can find them at most Retailers..

I am sure you can find other Brands....

Can you tell if that is all I'm missing from this pic? This is how it arrived from eBay.

Can you tell if that is all I'm missing from this pic? This is how it arrived from eBay.

You are missing the Rod Clamp,.. washers..wingnut.
The Rod Clamp/wingnut isn't sold separately as there are too many styles..and there are different diameters as mentioned above 6mm or 8mm.
I have no idea what came with the Pro-X or the underneath setup. The DMPad Hi Hat 12 (attached) had a slot but was also rounded at the top (Cymbal Pivot) where as the STRIKE Hi Hat is flat so the anti-rotation nut may be different..or exactly the same.
The one for the STRIKE Cymbal has a bottom nut with a tang/tab for locking the cymbal in place..anti-rotation...the STRIKE Hi Hat clutch is going for $100 which is extreme (obscene)..

There are cheaper alternatives that you may be able to scavenge parts off of , however it's usually not mentioned what diameter wingnut is used etc..so it's a guessing game unless you know the hole diameter of what you have and the wingnut size of what the other clutch is.
I have 5 STRIKE HH Clutches..3 are 6mm..2 are 8mm..so there may have been a design with the earlier 12" w/bottom and the later 14" with boot
or supplier change for the whole Clutch setup.

Hi Hat clutches are typically for Acoustic Hi Hats which are thin pieces of metal, which is why there are felts so some of them may be too short for an E-Hat Cymbal

You can go through ebay listings/pics and see if any are similar and matches up to what you have....bottom line.. cheaper/simpler to find a complete substitute for the clutch instead of missing pieces..unknown if the thread pitch of the hollow threaded is the same as the Alesis anti-rotation nut.

Generic

SPL

GIBRALTAR

ALL Hi Hat Clutch
