Looks to be $999.00.. Have a look for yourself: zZounds.com, Alesis DM10 Studio Kit Electronic Drum Set

Wow! That puts it in line with the Simmons SD9K. I thought the SD9K was a deal at that price. An Alesis DM10 kit at this prices is fantastic, and makes the Simmons kit look over priced.

$999!  Holy crap!  That's awesome!   I'd like to get the Surge cymbals (DM10 pro kit), but for a $500 discount, I can live without...  and I get an extra pad, and cym?... all for the low, low price of $999.   The studio kit's cymbals are chokable, and the ride is 3 zone, right?
Sweet!

The DM5 I had had plastic clamps...  I actually think it's the same rack.

While they were plastic, they were very solid. This doesn't concern me at all.

Wasn't teh DM10 all by itself going to see for $499?   So, for an extra 500, you get pads, cymbals, and a rack?   Good deal to me!   Maybe too good  ???   ... Before buying I better doing a thorough comparison between the Pro and Studio kits.

But.. I literally can't wait to get this unit.   ;D

yeah cool..Looks pretty good deal. The extra cymbal pad is the winner for me, although only one of the crashes is chokeable, also cant seem to see if the 2 crashes are dual zone or not... i see the ride is 3 zone tho.....

1 2-zone crash (chokable)
1 3-zone ride
1 1-zone hihat
1 1-zone crash

4 8" dual zone pads
1 10" dual zone pads
1 8" kick pad

I want it, plus one more chokable crash. Which I didn't see in thier store page, but I imagine it would be available somehow.  But then again, maybe not.  Does a chokable crash take up two inputs?  Or just one TRS?  I think it's the latter.  In which case it'd work, as there's only one free input on the module with the studio kit.

Wait, I'm wrong...

The chokable cym (1) doesn't use two inputs.
"1 2-zone crash (chokable)"
should be '1 1-zone crash (chokable)'

if that make sense.   ;D

no where in the literature does it say that the crashes are 2 zone. It only says 1 crash is chokeable the other is not. Whereas the ride is 3 zone and chokeable.

Right.  That's what I said.  (First I said 2-zone.  Then I said 1-zone.)   At least that's what I meant.  :)

Although, zzsounds says Feb 2nd.  so, next tuesday?

I can wait.  I don't want to, but will.  (no choice.  hee hee)

999? and the module alone is 699?  $300 for pads, cymbals and rack?  methinks the module by itself is overpriced, then!  oh well.. I still am going to get one.

DM10 studio should be available around early March. So I take it that the crashes are definately single zone then..

You get one crash that is single zone plus choke. The other is just a single zone (meaning no choke). The ride is three zone plus choke.

not having ever used a rack before, can the cables be hidden inside the rack tubes on both these kits?

for this rack, no, what you can do though is use velcro straps to keep the wires tidy.

this is the one i use

Welcome to the forum eugenecp!

You can put the cables in the rack for the DM10 Pro Kit however. That is because of the rack clamp Alesis uses on that configuration. Unfortunetly, you can't do that with the DM10 studio. Try eugenecp idea, its a good one.

Personally, it'll be an adjustment playing on a 6 piece kit for me.  But I'll get used to it.  :)
I'm sold on the Studio primarily because of the price.  The extra cym and pad helps too.   ;D

On the studio rack, could you drill holes and feed the wire through?  I think I'll be happy with just some zip-ties, or wire chase system. But the thought occured to me of just drilling a few strategically placed holes. (with my DM5, I just wrapped the cables around the tubing.  it kept them somewhat neat and not dangling.)

Well the tax fairy is going to be good to me this year hopefully and I have a question for anyone who has played this set.  I have tried the dm5 pro at sam ashe and the kickdrum module sounded like I was hitting cardboard.

I work about 10 hours a day and only would be able to play at night.  My "music"/workout room is under my 2 year old's bedroom and I cannot wake her with the repeated sounds of thwaka thwaka.  What is the ambient level of noise that anyone not wearing a set of head phones would hear with this kit.

Thanks guys.

DM5 and DM10 pads are the same.  Loud.

Check out Hellfire's videos on doing a Mesh conversion to these pads.  The difference should be substantial!

Does the mesh conversion in the video affect the triggering of the set?  Will it miss ghost notes and subtle rolls?
