I have a DIY kit using a Nitro Mesh module. I made my own cymbal and it takes bit to hit hard enough make a sound. So, I bought a set of Alesis DMPad cymbals thinking the cymbals might be better. I still have to whack the cymbal pretty hard to make it sound right. Then it makes a loud thud sound because you are hitting hard plastic with a little bit of hard rubber on top of it. I have the sensitivity set all the way up in both instances. My crash cymbals are really sensitive and loud. Are there setting I?m not using?
Maxing out the Sensitivity is probably the worst thing you can do.
You lose ALL Dynamics as a light Hit triggers Maximum Velocity Articulation/Sample...super sensitive ..super loud..
You want the lowest Sensitivity with the Highest amount of Threshold..
Lower the Sensitivity..If you are having that much trouble lower the Threshold to 1 to start...if it's too low then you start introducing Cross-Talk,Vibrations off the rack etc as everything may trigger.
You can also change the Curve..try 5.
You can raise the EQ's to increase overall Volume of the Kit.
The range for the EQ's is Amplitude based not frequencies,so you are raising the Volume for that range.
Raise evenly...High is usually +4 and the Mid/Low is 0 and the Max is 12.
Raise the High to 12..Mid to 8..Low to 8..that will give you a Balnced increase.
If you are using Headphones turn them down as the Module will get loud.
The rest is adjusting according to playing style and Headphone type as there are a variety being used.
The Cymbals that come with the Nitro Mesh Kit are 10" with 27mm Piezo..larger cymbals use 35mm.
