That happened faster than I thought it would. I figured Alesis would have milked the release for at least a month or two before having an expansion for sale.

There were a lot of the Demos/Videos on release and I seen many I never heard of before, influencers,Teachers,Youtubers etc etc and who knows how long they all had the kits... maybe they consider the STRATA Prime has been out for awhile since in a way it has... I guess.
Hopefully a sign the Module will be available separately more sooner than later.

The Standard kit has a shorter front cross bar..the expanded Kit has the longer Front Crossbar to mount 3 Toms.
I don't see anywhere where you can purchase the longer front so that's something to consider when getting the expansion pack as I don't see one included....and it is Black (Powder Coated? Steel) not the usual Chrome which are plentiful in the aftermarket.

"Note: This is the expansion pack only, and does not include the full drum kit and rack.
This package includes the 14" drum, two cymbals, and mounting hardware."

STANDARD

EXPANDED

I suppose you could get creative..

Alesis should consider to release this bundle pack, people that have their current kit, will only buy this. But I am sure later Drum tec and others will do these kind of bundle pack.

just checked it out at guitar center.

1 - the hi hat controller is not propriety. I brought in a strike pro controller, and I tried a Roland fd8 as well as whatever the already set up low end Simmons kit uses as its controller. Everything worked. The stats controller worked a little better than the rest, but with enough time, I'm sure I could have tweaked any of them to work well.

I wish you could edit the curve for how fast the pedal opens and closes as that all seemed to happen really fast.

The hi hat control works really well. I did notice the floppiness of the 1 piece hat that had been discussed.

I liked the cymbals a lot. I've used every Roland CY cymbal except for the 15, alesis strike cymbals and currently lemon cymbals. I think it would still prefer lemon, but these were pretty nice. The edge switches are very responsive, and the new innovation of putting a second switch along the top should be copied by everybody, much like the 3 cone drum triggering has. The second step makes choking so easy and you can just grab the cymbal, no more making sure to grab the thin little edge switch.

I think it's a toss up between these and my lemons, but they're definitely better than anything else I've played.

Every drum is 3 zone meaning head rim rimshot on all toms.

I'm the loud store I wasn't a big fan of the sound. Maybe it was the headphones they had out, maybe it was that I didn't play the right kits, but everything sounded pretty thin to me. Definitely not a final answer, and sound is subjective, just my thoughts from a few minutes of playing it

My Strike Pro SE is on order with Sweetwater.  They gave me a great deal on other hardware (double DW pedal and hihat stand).

No deposit.

You are in good shape then...Sweetwater always takes care of their customers and does whats best for them.
You should be in a line with others (Backorders etc) and Sweetwater never charges you until it's shipped.
I have been using them for years and have a cabinet full of the little bags of candy they always send with orders..lol.

As far the waiting and wondering..you have seen the New Kit and the price is MSRP so hard to say what the actual price will be and purchasing a kit at EOL (End of Life) and the start of a New one is a tough choice if your purchase is based on a budget.

Today my Strike Pro SE was shipped by Sweetwater :)

A few weeks ago I had contacted Alesis and was assured that the Strike Pro SE is still in production.  So, I decided to stay with the Strike Pro SE and save $1,000.

One bought the strata kit and tested his Atv\eFnote cymbal and are not doing great on dynamic he spend 1 hour, still not optimized for them, either its soft hit barely pick it up or higher not much head room and he know how to calibrate a module. He returned it back the kit, he only wanted the module, he had already converted kit used with MIMIC. It is unknown if Alesis will implement accurate algo preset for 3rd party cymbal at this time. Module works perfect with Strata Cymbal.

Alesis module not reliable so far, at a fast rate from random people, issue happens on boot up, during playing, module freezing, no cymbal choke, unable to shut down, out of memory, loosing all library sound/ user kit etc... Similar things happens on Strike Multipad. I am not sure if it's software or hardware, but once these issue happens you need a new module, can't be fixed. I recall Strike multi pad had SD card causing issue inside and corrupt.

According to Alesis release (April 10)....The STRATA PRIME Module does not support 3rd party triggers..even earlier Alesis trigger designs and absolutely No Assistance/Support will be provided.

If that is truly the case or their position...I highly doubt the Module will "Officially" be sold separately...until EOL..
I have seen a couple sold from Demo Kits being parted out..

Arc Cymbals

Each of the cymbals that come with your Strata Prime Kit feature triple-zone sensors for your edge, bow, and bell. As well, the cymbal edge features a dual zone configuration that allows you to capture ultra-sensitive quiet dynamics during play, be it on the cymbal, ride, or hi-hat.

Alesis Strata Prime | New Technologies and Alternate Trigger Support

A Note on Alternate Trigger Support

Due to the specificity of design and technology required to power the Strata Prime to its tour-ready status, we do not recommend the use of third-party triggers, and even older Alesis drum triggers, with the Strata Module under any circumstances, and do not offer support or assistance for their integration into a Strata Prime kit. These triggers lack the architecture necessary to facilitate the execution of most of the new features the Prime Module offers and are not natively supported for calibration or setup with the module, so we advise against attempting to integrate them and cannot provide assistance in doing so.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think it really matters all that much if the Strata Prime doesn't support third party pads. Think about it. Where are all the people demanding to Roland about third party support or how about Yamaha? The only major drum module that seems to openly support third party pads is Pearl. And that's because Pearl never released a kit to go with the mimic. It was meant as a open module from the beginning.

Alesis never stated that they were building an open to all module, so why do so many expect it?  ???

This is mainly a issue with those people who bought into the Roland ecosystem and just want to switch different modules. The funny thing is Roland was never meant to be default/generic. Just because a few patents end doesn't mean everybody and their uncle is going to just make Roland rip-off pads and support them.

It seems everything keeps changing...

There are also contradictory statements throughout the digitalDRUMMER Article..including this one.
The opposite of what I posted above from the FAQ page Alesis/InMusic support.

"Alesis modules in the past have not been designed to accommodate third party triggers, with limited trigger parameter tweaks available.
The STRATA PRIME changes that with the inclusion of presets for a range of Roland,Yamaha,ATV and "User" triggers, suggesting plans for extensive module-only sales down the line"

also...the Alesis Support and the FAQ pages changed ....again..

Alesis Strata Prime | New Technologies and Alternate Trigger Support (April 30,2024)

A Note on Alternate Trigger Support

"All modern Alesis pads will be compatible with the Prime module, with presets available for Crimson, DM, Nitro, and Strike Pads available in the Trigger Edit menu. When connecting these pads, be sure to navigate to your Trigger Edit menu and select the correct preset for the pad you are using. Presets are also available for certain Roland drums and cymbals."

Alesis Strata Prime Kit | Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work with pads from my other Alesis kits or pads from other companies? (April 26,2024)

"The majority of pads and triggers on the market today will very likely work with the kit, though there will certainly be some that require some setting tweaks and others that may not work at all due to design differences. Most triggers will use the same basic technology and all that would be required to adapt the trigger would be to choose the correct trigger type in the Prime  Module (switch or pad) and likely adjust the sensitivity and threshold.

We recommend using the included pads for the kit for the most effective response."

There is a New PRIME Module User Guide Version v1.0.2..

They removed the ability to imports VST BFD3 sound now..it was on the manual and never worked.

That was actually one of my questions for the Developers (Skot,Drew) as I didn't see mentioned that Presets etc could only be imported for "Existing" Expansions/Libraries for the PRIME Module..not just any Preset made up of any kit/combo from any expansion you have available in BFD3.
That would require including the articulations from that Expansion/Library
BFD3 Presets are comprised of 2 pieces of Library info along with Mixer Slot assignments (Instruments) and the rest of the Mixer..mics..FX etc etc.
The only "recognized" Libraries I see in the PRIME Module is BFD Dark Farm and BFD Percussion..
The Power Station Expansion/Library does not exist for BFD and the Electronic may be from the 8Bit library so unknown what Library info is being used in those Presets/Kits.

Any Preset..Custom Kit Piece etc created in BFD is saved as a "User"..not the original Library info.
You cannot interchange Kits or Presets from libraries..you cannot load what you do not own.
If you load a Preset without having the required Expansion/Library the Instruments will be shown missing (if it loads at all in this module).
In BFD you can load the Preset or Kit specific to the library and have the option of loading the Kit,Mixer,Groove..along with keymap,Automation,Global settings..which each can be edited, replaced and saved as another Preset..but it will become a "User" preset..I presume Keymap,Automation,Global settings are not supported in the PRIME Module so those settings are probably ignored on loading.
I do not have a PRIME Module but if I had a Factory Preset from the Module I would know in just a few minutes how it works as apparently it is using BFD3 Kits/Presets and if the required info could be Manually edited in a BFD3 Kit/Preset to work properly.I have created Presets in BFD for the BFD Player , which after saving must be Manually edited for the proper library info and instrument/mixer assignments in order to load in the BFD Player as it does not load "User" Kits or any BFD Preset without the proper library info.
BFD Player has Dark Farm broken into and sold as multiple Libraries..each with it's own Library code and one instrument had a name change but for the most part identical except for articulation count.
I don't know if the PRIME Module has the same Instrument naming or if like the majority of modules , it has a character limit.
I would Presume since one of the Features was the BFD3 Preset imports etc that the naming stayed the same.

The attached email response shows "Missing YS1 Snare and".... in the subject Line..

The YS1 Snare is in the BFD Yamaha Signature Snares Vol 1 Library...and that is not in any of the libraries currently in or available for the PRIME Module.
You can't load what you don't own.I presume all of the BFD3 Expansions will eventually be available for Purchase for the PRIME Module.
Currently the main BFD3 Program does not export multi-velocity articulations/samples/complete libraries. (There was an export Feature for NFUZD Inspire). The additional expansions/Libraries will either have to purchase separately (smaller versions) just like the BFD Player or maybe BFD4 (under Development) will have an export Feature.
BFD3 (BFD4 under Development) Main program will then be the "Editor" so you can create all of the Presets.Kits,Custom Kit Pieces etc and then save/export and import/load into the PRIME Module....Unknown exactly which direction this is going.

If you know the individual have them take a copy of an actual default BFD3 Dark Farm Kit or Preset (not saved/exported)..place on SD Card and see if it imports/loads in the module...also try a saved Kit or Preset from BFD3 using only Dark Farm Expansion/Library..No others.
The Factory Kit or Preset will have factory Default Library info..the Saved/Exported Kit or Preset with have Library info saved as "User".
The Module may only load "User" Kits or it may recognize both and place them in different locations. The Expansions for the Module may have been assigned a New Library Code as is the case with BFD Player
I do not know if the module also requires the accompanying .png for the Kit or Preset..BFD Player does not as there are no graphics shown with the Preset it is just in a drop down list..

Things aren't looking good for Alesis. There are some folk in Facebook that are organizing a class action lawsuit against Alesis. How did they manage to screw up their flagship release is beyond me, but yeah, there are a lot of folk that bought the kit to have access to their BFD3 library directly on the module.

I hate to say it (but I can't help myself). This is starting to sound like the DM10 situation all over again.  ::)  For those new to the site or don't know what I'm referring to: Back in 2009 Alesis released the DM10 (not the MKII) and promised the ability to add after market sound sets to the module. And these sound set were to be made by several of the big VSTi makers at the time (BFD, etc). Well it never really happened. They ended up releasing just one sound set (BlueJay) by some VSTi maker that no one heard of (Alesis owned new company at the time) to try to make good on the promise, but in most people's eye it was too little too late.

Alesis marketing seems to have an issue with over promising things that the hardware can not deliver on. I don't know why Alesis keeps making this same mistake over and over again. If I had to guess it is because of the turn over of people at the company. The people running the show are never there long enough to remember what the heck was done just a few years ago. If people don't remember the past they are doomed to repeat it.  :-\

Yep, I recall those wild times with the Alesis DM10 module. And then they shifted the idea to the rebranded Pearl RedBox module. The frustrating bit is that both modules are the exact same, but since those kit files relied on the serial ID number of each module, people who bought the Alesis DM10 got stuck with the rather unfinished BlueJay, and to those who actually purchased the soundset, were met with the horrible reality that they could not revert to the stock sounds.

I wonder if Alesis is gonna pull this one again as well. Rebrand their module, and there allow the possibility of importing files.

Honestly, I am all in favour for all the affected parties to go forth with the action lawsuit, as it seems Alesis has a very hard time to learn their lessons.

Also, the module runs on Linux, HOW COME THEY CAN'T IMPORT KITS?!!!

The only saving grace is when the FOSS people grab the module and start to tinker with it. Realtime audio on Linux is a blessing, way ahead than whatever Windows offers and on par with Apple (that is a Unix/BSD-Based OS), so it is a matter of time until people figure out how they can crack that beast and have for example AV Linux or Ubuntu Studio running on the damn thing.

Alesis Strata Prime Kit | Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work with pads from my other Alesis kits or pads from other companies? (May 7, 2024)

"The Prime drum module comes with over 60 trigger presets for instant gratification with the current selection of Alesis triggers, as well as some 3rd party triggers. If you have a trigger not found in the trigger preset list, not to worry. Not only will Alesis expand the available trigger presets in future updates, but you can also fine tune and save your own trigger presets for most 3rd party triggers available.
