Got a new Strata Prime about 3 months ago and am having a difficult time dialing in my hi hat settings.
More specifically... can't seem to find a good balance between being able to register all stick hits while also being able to create a realistic semi open hi hat "swish" sound. Also, can't get rid of an unwanted "bottom release" chick like sound (meaning... when I release the hi hat in order to create a foot press chick sound it is also making a chick sound on foot release). Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance...
Welcome to the Forum !
Unfortunately there aren't any members with a STRATA Prime Kit.
Alesis doesn't have a Forum (Defunct years ago) and chose to have "Official" Facebook Groups..which are Private.
I am not a member of any Social Media.
I do not have one of the modules (not interested in an entire kit) however after it was announced there was a change in supporting BFD3 Presets,Kit Files and Multi-Velocity sample Import..I have lost interest in the module until it actually offers something I currently can't do.
I have had a rack mounted Vst Host for over 10 years including BFD3 and have also exported the libraries for STRIKE Module use years before the InMusic acquisition.
The PRIME Module also uses a Hall Effect Hi Hat and I have No experience/knowledge with it's output range.
There have been a few posts/questions but little response to the replies or requests , including those I have made in regards to User Kits, Presets or MIDI Map files and if they can be exported so that I can have a look at them as I am well experienced with BFD3 (20 years) and can manually create or adjust these files along with creating Expansions and would know in minutes what can or can't be done...No participation..No answers.
I have already created
STRATA Prime MIDI Maps including for use with BFD3.
I have created Presets/Templates for use with BFD3 as an Editor for the BFD Player..which require the Exported Preset be Manually edited in order for Library Codes/Info to work in the BFD Player.I presume the same will apply for use in the PRIME Module.
BFD had an
Upgrade to the Hi hat engine (5-9 Zones) and only 1 Expansion has the articulations/Samples that could take advantage of that... Dark Farm..the BFD Player Expansions are based on Dark Farm so the MIDI Mapping is for the extra Zones.
I haven't been able to look at any Kits,Presets etc from the STRATA Module so I cannot see what can actually be done.
I know after the initial release it was possible for BFD3 preset import , however Users were complaining about
missing Kit Pieces after importing Presets made up with expansions from the main BFD Program and not currently available for the PRIME Module..so it was announced support for that was dropped and I do not know if the feature was entirely removed during the firmware updates since.
Until then..I can only recommend following the Manual HH setup guide and adjust the Pedal Bottom and Gain for the Chick.
There seems to be a vast adjustment range..100-2048 for the Pedal Bottom and 0-200 for the Gain.
In BFD main Program you could adjust the pedal Transition Ranges for the 5 or 9 Zones.
I do not know if the Module has that feature and without a MIDI Map exported from the Module I do not know if I can adjust the Pedal Transition/ Zones manually.
