Cool refresh of a known product.

Admittedly I don't like the term "PRO" associated with this set. They would have been better off using the term "XL" or "Super".

These companies should know by now not to use the word "Pro" unless they mean it. Putting the word "Pro" on a budget line kit is bad optics. Do you really want people thinking this is somehow a "Pro" level kit by Alesis?

Agreed...This is actually the (Surge Mesh..Std 1-1/2 Rack..Std L-Rod mounting/Toms..8" Kick) configuration with New Max (BFD) Module I was expecting for a "Surge MAX" Kit as that's always been the upgrade for the past few years and versions...Nitro Single Zone horizontal mounting pads with DM6 rack... to the Surge 1-1/2 with Dual Zone std mounting Pads..and the same cymbals.. same exact Module. .
I guess Pro > Max?...you would think "Max" is the Maximum..
A "Pro" Version would at least have a snare stand instead of using a 10" Tom L-Rod/Rack mount for a snare setup..
ALL of the "Pro" Kits in the current Alesis Lineup have separate snare stands....and Multi-Zone Cymbals.

The NITRO PRO Toms are the older style closed bottom...with Logo screened on.
The snare for the NITRO PRO appears to be a New design....similar to the Nitro MAX and the STRATA Prime..just deep (Full Sized?) shell and different Spoke Design.
The "look" reminds of when users took the Realheads and placed Taller shells on them as in this Topic..the L-Rod mount is towards the bottom instead of centered on the shell.
I wouldn't think it's a one off so maybe Future Kits will have this design...Maybe a rack tom from a STRATA Prime PRO ?..(lol)

The snare for the NITRO PRO appears to be a New design....similar to the Nitro MAX and the STRATA Prime..just deep (Full Sized?) shell and different Spoke Design.
The "look" reminds of when users took the Realheads and placed Taller shells on them as in this Topic..the L-Rod mount is towards the bottom instead of centered on the shell.

That's my guess too with it most likely being a rack tom for a new STRATA Prime Pro Kit (or something like that). That was one of the most pointed out things with the new STRATA Prime is people thought there should have been more "shell" like the Strike and this newer design fits that bill. The new snare looks to be a combo of the STRATA and Strike design mashed together. Can't really see the sensing system, but I would assume it is the same as the STRATA (Since it is better then the older Strike design).

You can see a some of the Trigger sensor setup...including a Foam column floating which might be on a clear acrylic plate...however even under high resolution the Newer Mesh Heads are tightly woven so you can't even see a silhouette from the top view like you could with older Mesh Heads






I haven't seen any applications for the STRATA Toms/Kick  yet...just the Hi Hat and Cymbals.
The STRIKE Toms were included in the Instrument Patent.

I was really hoping Alesis was no longer using the foam columns. A cone shape self centers. It looks as if the top of those columns might be slightly conical shaped (hard to tell). Doesn't the STRATA use 3 (or is it 4) small cone shaped contact points? I can't seem to find a pic of the inside of a STRATA pad.

I searched also after I did the STRATA Prime MIDI Maps and had No Luck.
The Snare - 4 MIDI Notes..the Toms - 3 MIDI Notes , so I was wondering if there is a switch... also all of the Cymbals have a bell.

I could only find a Hacked Tom for pics..and Dolby Drums did a Phone Video/Youtube a couple days ago.

The Triangle Trigger Plate is in some of the Patent Filings but not (2) stacked and the Stepped Column/Fix was started in the STRIKE Pro SE ... doesn't look similar to the NITRO Pro Snare Trigger setup.
