Hi All
I've had to change the piezo on my Surge Mesh 10" snare (the usual snapped wire) and i have discovered that the foam circle the piezo disc goes into ,that is glued on the triangular metal plate (that screws into the base of the drum) is torn and worn out.
Where would i get a replacement , or is it possible to make one ?
Any suggestions would be most helpful
I have a number of the Pad designs , but I don't have one specifically from the Surge kit so I can't compare designs..
Is the Foam solid..or Tubular?..
The Foam being used is of poor quality..see this Topic where a user had a
DM10 MKII Pro 12" Failure and when I mentioned checking the manufacturing date (there was a design change) the Tech informed him that the Kit had sat on a shelf for 2 years and the Head went bad and caused everything else to fail (the foam was probably bad..Heads always stretch) and Alesis replaced it.
see this
Topic.If it's a Solid Type Quartz Percussion offers a
27mm for Roland Pads with Piezo... you can look and see if it's is similar in size to what you have..
They don't mention the thickness.
Also I have seen where a number of "Stores" sellers on
ebay etc offering the 1" Foam circles that appear to be thick..but are actually Foam Adhesive circles like those from 3M or a copy and just stacked..you can get at
Amazon...most are around 2MM thick..you can search for even thicker ones.
There are also
30mm as 1" is just under 27mm.
I can't comment on how well stacking would work.I use as decouplers (not hot glued) and they work well , but that's what is similar to what is used in most of the columns (segmented) on the pads..just stacked dots and the "Fix" for the STRIKE PRO SE is actually just segmented solid Foam circles (dots) staggered in size so they don't fall over.
I am seeing more an more Triggers using the Stacked foam like the ones offered at including
