If you want to hear and tweak the instrument sounds in each module then try connecting the Main L/R audio outs from one to the Aux ins of the other and monitor its Main or Headphone output/s.

Another option is fitting rubber tubing pieces on your drumstick tips to deaden the contact noise mainly from hitting the rubber pads.
