I will bring it to an electrician today, that can measure the current on different points to see if a cable is broken or something....

After a long time i got my DM Dock. Sadly with no update. The electrician check the power supply and all and everything is fine. He said he was able to check till the protocol layer of the IPAD and sadly at that point he had to give up. Somehow something on the Protocol Layer does not work anymore. Guess my DM Dock is fried :-(
I guess there is no way to "Rest" the DM Dock or so?

Maybe someone else has a clue, otherwise i have to give up :-/

Quick Update. I just found out, if i uses a USB-B calbel an run the DM Dock to an older Samsung Tablet, the tablet gets charaged with no problem. But i can really find out, if the Alesis is found as an Audio-Card by the Android Table. Any idea how to check this?

ANoter thing i would be willing to try (as it does not work anyway) is to give the device more power. Stay with 6V, but give it more Ampere, would that be a problem?

Forgive me, working on it, but momentarily at a loss to figure out your glitch, ma'am.

Sorry. I hope to help. This is the current bodged-together configuration, before teardown in a moment..."just in case" photos.

At minimum, once inside the patient's guts, should be able to graft a powered USBC hub into it, maybe a balanced line level XLR input/ output. We'll see what it can do! ;)

When somebody tells you that something cannot be done, listen to them. Then, do it anyway.

Hardware only draws the the amperage it requires...when you don't have enough amperage then you experience partial functionality, odd behavior and components may even heat up trying to draw more power.
If it's a Chinese power adapter/supply it is possible it may be supplying less amperage than the rating listed on the adapter/supply itself..it is not uncommon for the Chinese knockoffs.I have run across many.

I was going to suggest the USB Dongle/adapter used for different iPad Models (Lightning /30 pin) however you already posted for both models.

Alesis products are Class Compliant...the USB B port on the DM Dock sends MIDI,USB Audio and since it is a USB2.0 (4 wire)..Pos..Neg..Transmit and Receive. The USB Audio driver was generic "USB Audio Device" and I don't know if many used it or if it was working properly.
There were many Features listed for the DM Dock that did not materialize.
USB 3.0 is 9 wire however the B connector is entirely different.
The Samsung Tablet USB port is picking up power as it would with a typical phone charger.
The DM Dock was released when Android was on Ice Cream Sandwich..Android was always been behind for Audio MIDI so the DM Dock was not compatible with that OS at the time.
There was a way to setup Android for USB Audio and a Host for standard protocols for USB peripheral functions.."Driverless Mode".
I personally never experimented with any of that as I stopped purchasing Android Hardware developing anything Google at that time.
Android was  originally developed for Digital cameras before Google acquired and came out with 2.0

Do you have Audiobus installed on any of the iPads?
Is the DM Dock listed as a Device?

At Least for my original IPAD3 (not charching btw via DM Dock) there is no such setting, as the latest IOS is 9.3.6.

Well, till now, nothing is found in the settings on all devices, ipad 2, Ipad 1, Ipad Air 2...nothing. Some will charge, some won?t. The only thing i will try is this adapter:
https://www.amazon.com/Hon-Kwang-HK-AJ-060A300-US-HK-AJ-060A300-EU-HK-AJ-060A300-UK-Power/dp/B0BZPGDKZN
If i got your info right, this should be the required power adapter for this part.  I need an adapter for EU, but as the input can range from 110V-220V this should not be an issue....besides that.....i have no more ideas...

Also tried to remove the adapter from USB to 30 Pin or Lightning and put on a standard USB Cable and going from there to the Camera Connection Kit of my Ipad. Camera Connection Kit is found but nothing else.
Concerning Audiobus: i don?t think so, but i don?t know what that is.

But just to be sure. i do NOT need the DM Touch app, right? Because i don?t have it, i only try with tools like Garageband ect.

By the way. I also have a original Alesis I/O Dock 1. I am not sure if it has the same power supply, but if so...this did not work eighter :-/

also found this in the user guide:
"Before using DM Dock with your iPad, install the DM Touch
app:
1. Open the App Store on your iPad (not included), search for
‘DM Touch’ and download the app.
2. Tap 'Install' or 'Install App'.
3. Launch the DM Touch app."

It might be stupid, but does the app maybe install someething on the IPAD, that the DM Dock needs?

Also: tried a USB-B Cable in the Backside of the device and connected it to my WIndows 11 PC: Nothing coming up in the Device Manger or in Midi OX....

But just to be sure. i do NOT need the DM Touch app, right? Because i don?t have it, i only try with tools like Garageband ect.

The DM Touch app..along with Kits..Mixing etc... allowed you to adjust  trigger settings and MIDI assignments so you can change MIDI Mapping to different apps.
iOS apps typically do not have different Drum maps for different Modules/Brands like the Software/Vst

Audiobus is like a set of virtual cables.. you can plug one app into another, into another.

Audiobus MIDI Learn in-app purchase, you can control everything from mixer levels through to preset loading and Audio Unit parameters from your external MIDI gear ? or, another app.

The Ultimate Guide To Using Audiobus with Garageband

Audiobus App Store

I checked a DM Dock and 1 trigger with an iPad that does Not have DM Touch installed and opened Garageband.
It auto selected the DM Dock...unlike apps that let you choose the MIDI input so if the DM Dock is functioning properly you should be able to connect at least one trigger and hear the insdtrument play in Garageband.
Garageband has settings for Bluetooth MIDI and under the Main Settings menu..you select the Garaband app and enable MPE Controllers also.

By the way. I also have a original Alesis I/O Dock 1. I am not sure if it has the same power supply, but if so...this did not work eighter :-/

The original IO Dock , DM Dock and Amp dock all used the same power adapter/supply...6V 3A
IO DOCK II was when the switch was made to 12 volt.

The original IO Dock should also be listed when connected to an iPad..

Ok, then i am done....as the original Power Supply from the IO Dock did not work or produced any difference my DM Dock is damaged.

Here are all combinations that i tried with non giving ANYTHING back:

- USB to 30 Pin Adapter from DM Dock to IPAD 1/2/3 -> No charging, no device found
- USB to Lighting Adapter from DM Dock to IPAD AIR, Iphone 15 -> No charching no device found
- Direct USB to PC -> Device Manager finds "something" but i don?t see a device (Windows 11)
- USB B From the Backside to PC -> Nothing at all
- USB B from Backside to 30 Pin Ipad 3 with Camera Connection Kit -> Nothing at all

I opened up the Device looking for like blown capacitors or Cable Problems...nothing..no burns nothing...it is just dead... The only thing i get from the Device is the Blue Light wenn I turn on the power :-(
