Stopping the rack pipe twisting

As you can see in this photo of my kit, the left rack arm is under some pressure to not twist.

Anyway, for those with that issue here is my fix.

First I found a long 8mm bolt and a matching drill bit.

I then drilled an 8mm hole right through the rack fitting and the pipe within.

And I stuck a bolt in it.

That pipe is not ever going to twist.

Job done.

Almost.

I cut the bolt shorter and filed it smooth on the end.

For now I have just stuck a bit of gaffa tape on the end to stop it shaking loose. But I will try to find some sort of simple clamp to hold it. It only needs to hold the bolt to stop it slipping out.

These rack pipes will never twist.

Genius!!  I'll have to do that on mine.  I'm constantly having to re-tighten my rack.

Thanks for posting that!

Awesome!
For holding it in place, maybe drill a small hole through the smooth end of the bolt and use a small clip?
Just a thought.

I don't really have this issue yet, but I might just perform this mod before I do.

I never did put gaffa tape or a clip on it. They do not budge.

Thanks Darten.. I have had some hit and miss over the years but I'm getting better at it i reckon. ;)

The 2 bolts live in my stick bag now with the drum keys and a the L shaped allen wrenches that do my tension rods (but that's another diy story)
