Just did mesh heads!

My setup is nothing special, but I'm a noob, and feel accomplished and SO happy to have done the mesh head conversion via 682 drums!  Worth every penny!

Yes....it's what came on my DW2000 kick pedal.  It's rubber on the other side, if you flip it.

You should definitely switch your beater around so your using the rubber side. The felt side will eventually tear a hole in your new mesh head. :'(

How have you found the cone conversion? Any problems with triggering?

I have the 682drums mesh heads also. Yes, a felt beater will wear it down fast, but I believe a felt beater will do less wear and tear on the insides. I recommend putting a bass drum patch on the head. Then you can use the felt beater no problem.

I personally didn't have much luckk putting a patch on the mesh head, it fell off after a few days

Instead I bought some roland plastic beaters and they do the trick just fine

Instead of going out and spending the money on a patch or new beaters, i simply used a piece of clear packing tape. Works perfect!   :)

I'm learning so much here. haha.....I am a 'n00b', admittedly....I've noodled around on drums for years, but am just now properly learning with a teacher.  With that, I also have a lot to learn about hardware and such.

As for the cone conversion, I think it was worth every penny.  I hear more subtleties between the center and the edge of the drums.  They are definitely more sensitive, and the rebound is like night and day.  Love them!
