I am in the process of finding a hi-hat solution.  How would this(PRO X Hi-Hat) fare against the Alesis Realhat.  Does anyone know the approximate dates this would hit the streets, and perhaps price?

Thanks

Whoa! That looks like a nice setup and hopefully it sounds and plays well. I would buy this as soon as it comes out (if it's affordable) and then I'd have my hi-hat cymbal to use as an extra crash. This is awesome :-)

Totally dumb question: Why would you need a single-zone bottom cymbal? Why have a piezo in it at all if it's meant for a DM10, so you only get a SZ hat anyhow?

The bottom cymbal isn't a trigger. The whole system is just a single zone trigger. Yes, bad wording on the part of Alesis.

The whole bottom assembly is probably just to soften the blow when closing the cymbal, to avoid cross talk. And to look good. Just like the bottom assembly of just about any other e-cymbal - any second zone is typically at the top cymbal anyway.

It's called a "dual" cymbal because of two pieces - not two piezos. ;)

It's a "(Dual Cymbal) Hi-Hat Controller" - not a "Dual (Cymbal Hi-Hat Controller)". :)

This looks good. I wonder if the DM10 will need a firmware update be compatible?

Since it's just a single-zone pad, in essence, I'd assume it should just be plug-and-play, no firmware update required.

Not that I'd complain if there was... ;)

At 79.00 Euro that's about $110.00 U.S. Not bad at all. The only thing I don't like about my DM10x kit is the hi-hat. I'm old school, I like my stand. Looking forward to the U.S. release of this.
Have a good time all the time!

I had similar feelings about my DM10X hi hat. I can't wait to get my hands on the Pro X Hi-Hat.

Alesis Facebook post from George Musat: The Pro X Hi-Hat sends a fully continuous signal that the Alesis DM10 and DM8 modules recognize. After calibrating the Pro X Hi-Hat on the module and setting sensitivity (we like 65), you're good to go! Pricing is $99 USD for the top and bottom cymbals, cables, and sensors. Thanks for the feedback and we look forward to shipping the product later this spring.

I think its very reasonable for £79 considering the yamaha and roland alternatives. I'm not expecting the same performance as a £250 Roland VH-11, but its not exactly hard to improve over that foot pedal. If it makes it easier to get half open sounds consistently then its done the job. Would be reassuring to see a video of it in action or hear people's impressions of it who tried it at the show.

If you sell your foot pedal and cymbal on ebay you'll probably get £40-50 which you can put towards it (this is my plan).

Still praying for confirmation of Trigger IO compatibility, calibration works slightly differently to dm8/10 so fingers crossed...
