Thanks Chaser for sharing those Simmons samples.
I've also been trying to simulate the snare drum sound in Alex's 1986 kit, which was a Ludwig 6.5"x14" wooden rosewood according to info on his website (alexvanhalendrums.com). So I'd be very interested if anyone has some samples of it.
I'll try not to hijack this thread....maybe we should start a sample post? in the top floor in case prying eyes (manufacturers,Sample distributors etc.) gets their panties in a bunch (copyright claims etc)
AVH used a TAMA Rosewood with gaffa tape triangle..I read somewhere in an old forum he used for VHI and VHII and used in his kit early 80's.. Fair Warning.
Ludwig eventually did a special build for him.otherwise I think he was using Supraphonic..
I found the specs for the snare..there was one on ebay a year or so ago.

It may be easier to find a TAMA Sample and tweak it or pull it off a multitrack/stem?
Have you checked with Drumwerks? They have massive amounts of snare samples.
