Hi-Hat midi notes
« on: January 12, 2017, 09:57:22 PM »
I have a DM10 and Sample Rack.

On the DM10 I can press the INST button then MIDI button and along with Note Chase on I can see the different midi notes for my DM10 kit. Tom 1, Tom Rim etc.

When I hit the Hi Hat I can see it is on midi Note 46.

However, when I look at the midi chart for the DM10 I can see the following Midi note assignments.

Midi not shown first

30 Hi Hat Pedal  - Heel Splash
31 Hi Hat R - Shank Closed
32 Hi Hat R - Shank Open/Varialbe
42 Hi Hat H - Hi Hat Bow Closed
44 Hi Hat Pedal  - Click
46 Hi Hat H - Bow Open / Variable

Like I said, when I play the hats the note chase only shows me note 46.

Why does it not show the other midi notes when I play them?

I assume only the Hi hat Bow Open note is accessible to make it easier to adjust the level, tone, etc of all the Hi hat sounds as a group. Consequently the individual Midi notes are hidden from access.

Right. So the Sample Rack has (by default)

HH A Open 46
HH A Mid 23
HH A Close 42
HH B Open 26
HH B Mid 24
HH B Close 22
HH Clk 44
HH Spl 21

Looks like I need to alter the midi notes on some of the Sample Racks Hi Hat sounds to take advantage it's abilities. (the Sample Rack is getting midi notes from the DM10)

Unlike the DM10 the Sample Rack let not only see the midi notes of the various Hi Hat states, but alter those notes as well.

Thanks rhysT

No I didn't Waltheer. But to tell you the truth I did not spend much time on this after this thread. Since I started using Addictive Drums for my kit, I only use the Sample Rack for one off samples.
